The Johnny Depp Vs. Amber Heard’s trial concluded yesterday, with the former winning it. While Depp is to receive $15 million, Amber Heard is to receive $2 million because of the statements Waldman had passed.
The court of law found Johnny Depp to be innocent, and all the statements passed by Amber Heard in the Op-Ed were defamatory. However, when all is said and done, we as fans of his work have one question: “What’s next for Johnny Depp’s career?”
There has been a wide range of speculations as to what the actor who’s given us some of the most epic characters will do next. Will he join the MCU? Will he return to Pirates of the Caribbean 6? Will he be starring in Beetlejuice 2? Well, I’m here to answer all these questions.
Johnny Depp most likely will not return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. There is no confirmed news on whether Depp will be joining the MCU or starring in Beetlejuice 2 or Sherlock Holmes 3.
Will Johnny Depp return to Pirates of the Caribbean 6?
Johnny Depp will most likely not return to POTC 6. Disney as a studio had removed him, and the Producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, also said two weeks ago that it is doubtful. However, with the trial’s verdict being in favor of the actor, will they change their mind.
I think such a big studio changing their mind would result in them getting trolled and mocked for having removed Johnny in the first place. Furthermore, even if they decide to do so and try to get the actor on board, it would take a whole lot to convince him.
Even in the trial, he was asked if he would return to the franchise if the studio decided to pay him $300 million and a million alpacas. His answer was “Correct.” The story behind this is that the ties between Disney and Johnny were already pretty strained.
He sent a series of text messages to his assistant that read:
Honestly I will not again be doing anything that involves this discussion of furthering my embarrassment of having whored for all these fucking wasted piece of shit nothing years on characters that I so ignorantly started to think of as my legacy
Johnny Depp
The studio complained that it was because of his attitude, his drinking problem and that Pirates of the Caribbean 5 had the lowest box office collection in the series. Amber’s lawyers argued that this was the main reason they cut ties with Depp. However, the actor said that the screenplay was lazily written, and he had to rewrite it.
Well, whoever’s fault it may or may not be, this just shows how Johnny Depp might not be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Is Johnny Depp joining the MCU?
There is no confirmed news on whether Johnny Depp will be joining the MCU. Back in 2014, there were rumors that the actor might be playing the role of Doctor Strange. While the role did go to Benedict Cumberbatch, fans really thought he would be getting it.
Now that the verdict is in his favor, will he be getting offers soon? I don’t think he’s gotten any offers yet. The MCU is also under Disney, and it will be difficult for them to loop in Johnny Depp for the reasons I mentioned in the above section. However, even if he is to get an offer, I don’t think it will be happening anytime soon.
Is Johnny Depp starring in Sherlock Holmes 3?
Johnny Depp is most likely NOT starring in Sherlock Holmes 3. There were rumors about 2 weeks ago about how Robert Downey Jr. was trying to get his friend a role in the film. However, those rumors were probably false.
This is because Sherlock Holmes 3 is not in active development. As mentioned by the proposed director, Dexter Fletcher, in an interview, the film was “sitting on the back burner.” Also, come to think about it, the film is by Warner Bros, who removed him from the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
So, it seems a little unlikely that even if there were a third installment being developed, they would like to offer Johnny Depp a role. However, one never knows; things could change.
What is Johnny Depp doing next?
Johnny Depp is starring in an upcoming French film as King Louis XV. While it is not confirmed if he will be in Beetlejuice 2, people speculate that he might take his music career forward.
There were numerous rumors about how Johnny Depp will be starring in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2, alongside Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton, who would reprise their roles. However, nothing is confirmed. What is established is his return to the screens in a French film as King Louis XV, directed by Maiwenn.
So, by the looks of all this, it can be safely said that even if the actor takes some time to return to the screen, he most likely will make it. All we need to hope is that when he does, it’s a banger, and we are fortunate enough to witness yet another epic character.
