The Lizzie McGuire star couldn’t stop her excitement and squeals as she teased fans with a sneak-peek of the first table read for the highly anticipated spinoff show, How I Met Your Father (HIMYF).
After numerous delays, the How I Met Your Mother spinoff was finally put on board in 2021.
HIMYF is all set to be spearheaded by director Pamela Fryman, who had previously directed a major chunk of the nine seasons of the original show, and is created by the This Is Us writer duo Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.
The spinoff was announced in April 2021 and Hilary Duff was revealed to be the star of the show, being the ‘Ted Mosby’ in this opposite scenario.
On August 5, 2021, the actress posted an enthusiastic story on her Instagram, filled with smiles. She also shared some details regarding the anticipated spinoff, saying,
We just had our pre-table read for How I Met Your Father with the whole cast and everyone is so good. I feel so lucky. The writing is hysterical. The cast is amazing. I was, like, shaking the whole time!
Hilary Duff
Till now, only Hilary Duff and Chris Lowell have been revealed to be on board as cast members. Duff will be essaying the role of Sophie, who narrates the story to her children of how she met their father with flashbacks starting from 2021.
Lowell will be playing Jesse, Sophie’s close friend who’s smart but also cynical and is an aspiring musician working as an Uber driver.
However, Duff isn’t the only one who teased fans. One of the creators, Isaac Aptaker, also posted a photo of the first page of HYIMF’s script with the caption, “Almost showtime!”.
The modern era of dating and love, coupled with the many dating app struggles and more, are expected to be portrayed in HIMYF, with similar voice-over techniques and hilarious comic timings.
The spinoff series was picked up by Hulu and will have 10 episodes in its first season. More information about the cast, release dates or even production dates haven’t been announced yet.
But, considering the Disney superstar’s excitement and the fact that it’s spearheaded by top creators and original director, the show looks like it’s out for success.
