Did Doc Ock Get an Iron Suit Upgrade in Spider-Man: No Way Home?

The Empire magazine’s newly released stills from Spider-Man: No Way Home, featuring our favorite childhood villain Doctor Octopus, have the internet going crazy.

The images show Alfred Molina in arguably the best-ever and most powerful Doctor Octopus avatar. The character has definitely aged, but rather like fine wine. He’s seen glaring at Spider-Man (possibly) with his signature small, round glasses and his robotic tentacles up in the air.

While most of us focused and created a whole fight scene between him and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, some fans found a rather interesting detail—the red and gold color on the upgraded tentacles.

As Spider-Man: No Way Home brings Holland’s Peter Parker under the mentorship of Doctor Strange, he, unfortunately, shatters all boundaries of reality and opens up the multiverse. But it seems like Peter’s OG mentor will continue to inspire him (and his archenemies).

The red and gold (or yellow) iron suits have been synonymous with Tony Stark’s suit and the Iron Spidey suit.

For Doctor Octopus to have a similar style, the imagination of fans only runs wild. Some speculate that in jumping the multiverse, Doc Ock has enhanced his armor with the help of Tony Stark’s new technological advances. Others theorize it has absorbed the nanites from Peter’s Iron Spidey suit, giving his power and style an oomph factor.

Empire Magazine’s article also says bye-bye to CGI robotic arms. Like Tom Holland shared on his Instagram, the arms are very much real.

While this may all be just speculation, let’s not forget that fans’ hawkeyed guesses do mostly turn out right when it comes to Marvel. Moreover, a trivia about Iron Man even mentions that an early draft revealed Tony as the inventor of Doctor Octopus’ tentacles in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man.

However, it might be a risky move for Marvel. Fans already dislike Spider-Man’s extreme dependability on Iron Man (and now Doctor Strange). To have him still influence the teenage superhero’s life might just turn them back.
