Bell has always been special in one way or another, and fans wonder if it is because of his lineage.
The show’s title, “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?,” gives us a firsthand glimpse into Bell’s past and lineage itself. As it turns out, these perverted words were uttered by his adoptive grandfather, God Zeus.
Furthermore, he motivated Bell to become a hero through the stories he read to him. It won’t be a stretch to say that Zeus and his relationship with Bell is the starting point of this series.
No matter how small or big, every event has been influenced by their connection in some way or another.
However, Bell and Zeus’ relationship as an adoptive grandfather and grandson raises many questions.
Is Bell a Demigod?
Bell is not a demigod because he is not directly related to Zeus. In addition, Gods and spirits in Danmachi are unable to conceive children, making it impossible for a demigod to be born.
From the beginning, it has been explicitly stated in Danmachi that Gods and humans are unable to have children together.
However, some people argue that rules created in a series are always meant to be broken at a later date and that it may be possible for a goddess to give birth to Bell, thus resulting in him being a demigod.
Furthermore, because his grandfather is Zeus, they believe that the possibility of Bell being a child of God is even greater.
While that may have been a good twist, Bell is unfortunately not a demigod. His relationship with Zeus is an adoptive one, which means that they are not biologically related.
While he is truly the child of God, it is not in the way that most people think. A member of a God’s familia, like Hestia’s, can be considered a child of that specific God.
Bell Cranel’s Lineage – Who Are His Parents?
[Spoilers from the Danmemo game]
While we are all aware of the fact that Bell is Zeus’ grandson, we know little about how that came to be. While it wouldn’t be entirely surprising to imagine a God picking up a child from the streets, there is actually another reason behind their relationship.
Bell’s father was a Zeus familia member, while his mother was Myrtella, Alfia’s twin sister, who was from the Hera familia.
This means that Bell’s lineage can be traced back to both the Hera and Zeus familias. This information was revealed in the Danmemo game, Memoria Freeze’s Extra Story.
Myrtella was Alfia’s twin sister; however, she did not have much talent, unlike the latter. Furthermore, she was extremely sick, leading to her being bedridden most of the time.
After entering into a relationship with a Zeus familia member, she gave birth to Bell. Unfortunately, both of them died, thus leaving their child orphaned.
It is at this time that Zeus adopted Bell, probably because of the fact that he was the child of his familia’s member.
However, because of how Bell’s lineage has been revealed, it does not seem to play any significant role in the series and acts as background knowledge that expands on his character.
While this information is only revealed in the game as of now, it will soon be explored further in the Light Novel.
