In the July 17 episode of Monday Night RAW, Cody Rhodes confronted Brock Lesnar’s backstage appearance. The American Nightmare called out The Beast to the ring and issued a challenge for SummerSlam 2023.
However, Brock Lesnar remained backstage while Rhodes was in the ring. The American Nightmare rushed to the back to face The Beast when Lesnar’s theme played. But The Beast ambushed him. Lesnar threw Rhodes back into the arena and viciously attacked him with a steel chair, a Kimura Lock, and multiple F5s.
Recently, Rhodes attended the red carpet premiere of ‘Cody Rhodes: Becoming The American Nightmare’ at Atlanta, Georgia. A video from the premiere shows Rhodes with a cast on his wrist. However, he did not sustain a genuine injury during the attack, but the cast is to maintain kayfabe and portray the injury as a part of sports entertainment.
In other words, Cody Rhodes is faking an injury for the sake of entertainment. It is all part of a script to make WWE more entertaining as always. Rhodes was not genuinely injured during his face-off with Lesnar.
Some fans are dissatisfied with this twist and wish the Lesnar-Rhodes feud ends soon. They think WWE is prolonging the story unnecessarily, and portraying an injury that is obviously kayfabe is not convincing anyone or enhancing the interest in the rivalry. Moreover, WWE has already employed the “injured arm” storyline in this rivalry before Night of Champions!
The feud between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes started right after WrestleMania 39. He responded to The American Nightmare’s request for a tag team partner. However, Lesnar betrayed Rhodes even before the match started.
Since then, they’ve competed at Backlash 2023 where Rhodes achieved the win. The duo clashed again at Night of Champions where Lesnar emerged victorious.
Now that they’re 1-1, a final match should be conducted to end this feud while fans still find it engaging. Since Brock Lesnar has agreed to the challenge, it will not be long before fans discover what’s going to happen next between the superstars.
