The girls arrive in Fukouka for the Kinshuki tournament in episode 8 of Ippon Again!, titled “The Continuation of That Dream”. Everyone is very excited for the tournament to start and decide on Michi for their lead. Himeno also tells the girls about Natsume’s past injury in high school.
One of the contestants, Sachi, who is quite similar to Michi, helps the girls reach the venue. Aoba West is pit against Hakata South in the first match, which is coincidentally Sachi’s school. The match begins, and Michi takes the lead against Sachi.

Episode 9 is titled “Softness Subdues Hardness”. Michi and Sachi’s thrilling fight will continue, and we will see who will emerge victorious. Aoba West has an advantage of one extra member. However, Sakata South also seems quite formidable.
Something bad may happen, as Michi can be seen crying in the preview. It’s possible that she won’t be able to secure a win like she wanted and may start feeling discouraged. Whatever it is, one can only hope that she gets back up again like she always does.

Episode 8 Recap
Michi, Sanae, Towa, Nagumo, and Himeno, along with Natsume, arrive in Fukoka for Kinshuki. Natsume warns them to hold on to their excitement and not get injured since they have to last throughout the three days of the tournament.
The girls talk about how Natsume is always wary of injuries, and Himeno tells them of her past in high school when she got injured and couldn’t compete anymore, despite being skilled. Natsume can be seen looking at old news about her during her time as a volleyball ace. They rest up for the opening ceremony in the evening.
They get late in getting ready, and Sanae panics about not making to the ceremony on time. In their hurry, they almost take the wrong bus but are helped one of the girls, also participating in Kinshuki, named Sachi.
Michi and Sachi gets friendly quite fast due to their similar personalities. Sachi’s teammates remind her that Aoba West is actually their school’s, Sakata South’s, first opponent, which fires up Michi and Sachi even more.
The girls decide on Michi being their lead, and Natsume approves the order. At night, Michi dreams of her childhood when she joined Judo with her older brother. Her brother cheers her on as she almost secures an ippon against her opponent when she wakes up.
Aoba West and Sakata South face each other in the tournament the next day, and the girls realize that Sakata South may be in a similar position to theirs as they only have three teammates. Towa tells Michi that she also wants to see the continuation of her dream. Michi prepares herself to go against Sachi.
Sachi secures the first point, but Michi’s excitement even rubs off on her, and she tells her that she wants to win more than ever. Michi smiles as they continue their fight.

Mou Ippon! is a manga series by Yu Muraoka that debuted in the Weekly Shonen Champion magazine in October 2018. It received an anime adaptation in January 2023.
The series begins by showing how Michi, Towa, and Sanae, three middle-school girls became friends due to their love of judo. While Michi wanted to leave the sports, the other two reminded her of the feeling of ippon. Together, they constitute the judo club in their school.
