Nagumo decides to quit kendo in episode 6 of Ippon Again!, titled “I Don’t Want to Regret It “. Towa and Nagumo’s dad help her to resolve her conflicting feelings. Wanting to spend more time with her dear friend Michi since she isn’t sure where life will take them after high school, she joins the Judo club with the three, with no regrets.
Nagumo works very hard to train and obtains her judogi. The next national match is coming up, and Natsume suggests one more member to complete their team.

Episode 7 Speculation
Episode 7 is titled “Secret Weapon Senpai”. Natsume will be reaching out to the senior that used to be part of the Judo club, named Himeno, to convince her to join the team. However, from the looks of it, it seems that she would need to do some heavy convincing, as Himeno doesn’t seem too keen on joining.
We will learn more about Himeno in the next episode and her reasons for leaving Judo. Michi may turn out to be the one to convince her to wear her judogi again successfully. With another member on the team, a strong one probably, the team will be all set for Kinshuki.

Episode 6 Recap
Michi realizes that Nagumo isn’t joking about quitting Kendo after seeing her serious expression, but before she can ask anything, they are chased away from the practice hall by Gonda. Nagumo is conflicted, and seeing this, Towa invites her to eat lunch with her.
Nagumo asks why she joined Aoba when her judo is so good, and Towa tells her that she didn’t want to have any regrets after her last middle school match since she wanted to talk to Michi. She also adds that she is jealous of Nagumo for always being able to speak her mind.
Nagumo keeps on going back and forth on her decision while looking at her childhood pictures with Michi. Michi calls her and tells her that it is fine if she decides to quit kendo since, seeing how much she loves kendo, there must be something even better she must want to do to think about quitting. Nagumo smiles and makes up her mind.
Nagumo tells her dad about her decision to quit since even though she likes kendo, she wants to spend her remaining three years at high school with her dear friend Michi and not leave with any regrets. She announces her decision to Michi and the others. Michi mistakenly believes that she may have gotten a boyfriend, but Nagumo tells her that she wants to spend more time with her.
The club wholeheartedly welcomes her, and she practices hard with others to get better. They spend more time together, and Nagumo is satisfied. She finally gains her judogi and surprises Michi with her throws and how she got better in such a little time.
Natsume tells them of their next national tournament at Kinshuki. Nagumo is excited about her debut, but Natsume forbids her from joining the tournament because of how dangerous it is with her novice experience. Nagumo understands and declares that she will do her debut at Gyokuraki. The kendo team also tells her to come to cheer for them at the Gyokuraki tournament.
With a month left for Kinshuki, the girls unexpectedly come to know they need a team of five to apply for the tournament. Natsume tells them not to panic since, even though she won’t be participating in the actual matches, Nagumo’s name was added to the application.
As for the fifth member, Natsume tells them she has someone in mind, someone who used to be a member of the Aoba West Judo Team before it was shut down.

Mou Ippon! is a manga series by Yu Muraoka that debuted in the Weekly Shonen Champion magazine in October 2018. It received an anime adaptation in January 2023.
The series begins by showing how Michi, Towa, and Sanae, three middle-school girls became friends due to their love of judo. While Michi wanted to leave the sports, the other two reminded her of the feeling of ippon. Together, they constitute the judo club in their school.
