“Ippon” again! Ep 1: Release Date, Speculations, Discussion

“Ippon” again! is an upcoming comedy, sports anime series, based on the manga series of the same name by Yuu Muraoka. The plot revolves around Michi and Sanae who begin high school after their final middle school Judo tournament. To their surprise, they encounter Michi’s final opponent fighting to save their high school Judo club.

Sports anime featuring female protagonists are quite rare, especially a sport like Judo. It will be interesting to see the girls fighting to save their sports and working together to achieve victories! The title is definitely a rare and unique addition to Winter 2023 roster.

Episode 1 Speculation

Episode 1 of the series will introduce us to our two main characters as they start high school. Eager to join their beloved sports club in the new school, they will be getting themselves enrolled to check out the place, only to be met with one of their earlier opponent, Towa Hiura.

But hearing about the dire situation the club is in, the girls will try to put their differences aside to work together to save it.

We can expect to see fun antics and deep-hitting camaraderie from the girls as they work their way to prove themselves.

About Mou Ippon!

Mou Ippon! is a manga series by Yu Muraoka that debuted in the Weekly Shonen Champion magazine in October 2018. It received an anime adaptation in January 2023.

The series begins by showing how Michi, Towa, and Sanae, three middle-school girls became friends due to their love of judo. While Michi wanted to leave the sports, the other two reminded her of the feeling of ippon. Together, they constitute the judo club in their school.
