Investors and management of CD Projekt Red are reportedly set to sue the company. It may be due to an internal conflict between the devs and investors or how badly Cyberpunk 2077’s downfall affected its reputation.
Word on the street is that the investors are still grasping and investigating the situation. If deemed, they will take necessary legal action against CD Projekt for breaking article 286 of the Polish penal code where they misreported Cyberpunk 2077 for financial benefits.
It is believed that the management blames devs for releasing a game that is overflowing with glitches. In comparison, devs believe that the management had set impossible targets to achieve within a short period.
Talking about the rumor, the company’s joint CEO Adam Kiciński said,
“After 3 delays, we as the Management Board were too focused on releasing the game. It was the wrong approach and against our business philosophy.”
Adam Kiciński
Kiciński himself admitted that Cyberpunk 2077 should have been worked upon for consoles since players are encountering many bugs. It has come to a point where even enthusiasts are requesting a refund for it.
Every digital and physical store in the industry allowed for the game to be refunded. But as one can imagine, the procedure got a bit congested with thousands of fans wanting their money back.
Moreover, Sony took the brave decision of removing Cyberpunk 2077 from the PS Store for the time being.
For now, it remains to be seen if the CD Projekt Red will get sued or not. But to turn their fortunes around, the developing company has promised to release new updates in the coming future. One such is already out.
So if you love CP2077 and want to wait for it to get better, don’t give up. The devs must be working like their life’s on the line to save the company’s reputable name in the industry.
About Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.
Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
