CES 2022 began earlier this week, and we have had a slew of announcements that will make any technology enthusiasts excited for the future. The God of War PC gameplay, announcements of upcoming entry-level GPUs, and so much more has made the past week a rollercoaster. With the event now coming to a close, Intel has revealed an important bit of information regarding the follow-up to the i9-12900K processor.
An Intel spokesperson took to the stage at CES 2022 to confirm their flagship CPU, the i9-12900KS, will be launching. As is implied by the name, this is a boosted version of their most recent processor. They even showed it running with games like Hitman 3, in which the monitoring software shows that it runs around 100MHz faster than the predecessor. No information regarding the pricing or the release date was given.
The Intel i9-12900K came out recently and has been considered a decently powerful CPU, especially for gaming. This new version is most likely a response to AMD, who recently announced a new processor, the Ryzen 7000 Zen 4. Both are locked in a battle to see who will come out on top for the start of the year. Intel will be competing against AMD, as well as NVIDIA, with their new line of ARC GPUs as well.
Intel’s GPUs are expected to hit the market shortly, either in Q1 or Q2, and will likely go up against the likes of NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX cards, though probably not the RTX 3090 Ti. Intel is not yet aiming for the high-end of the GPU market as yet; a roadmap has revealed the possibility of the company releasing new products in the ARC range over the next three to four years. Only time will tell how well they fare against the competition.
Intel is also working on its own image upscaling technology, the Xe Super Sampling. It has already received support from big studios, such as Ubisoft and Kojima Productions. So the latest announcement is just one amongst many that Intel is using to dominate the market from all angles.
