YouTuber Jarrod’s Tech received two laptops from MSI for a review. These laptops were the GE78 Raider and GT77 Titan, equipped with the flagship 4090 GPU and 24-core i9-13980HX Intel processor. Although these are engineering samples, there is not too much of a difference in the final performance.
Intel 13th Gen Core HX-Series CPU scored 30498 points in Cinebench R23 multi-core test and 2135 points in single-core, making it the fastest laptop CPU ever.
The MSI laptops support an exclusive technology called 250W Overdrive. This enables the power budget to be shared between graphics and the CPU.
Both CPUs are equipped with the unlocked RTX 4090 variant with a default TGP of 150W, which can be boosted up to 25W using Dynamic Boost.
The Intel 13th Gen Core HX-Series CPU has 24 cores (8 Performance and 16 Efficient) which is the same as the Core i9-13900K. The desktop GPU has a default TDP of 125W (which can go up to 253W) and clock speeds up to 5.8 GHz.
The mobile SKU is limited to 55W or 157W with the max boost up to 5.6 GHz. MSI has not revealed much info about this since it is still under an embargo.
MSI is scheduled to launch RTX 40 GPU equipped laptops on February 8th. There is no pricing information available yet.
