Intel’s Arc Alchemist GPUs were announced earlier this year. Although they aren’t available yet in the US, a few laptops are being shipped in China featuring Intel’s latest GPUs. The company provided official gaming performance figures for its A770M and A730M GPUs, both based on the bigger Alchemist ACM-G10 GPU.
A770M and A730M are the top performers of the A-series Mobile lineup and Intel claims that they are faster than Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Mobile and RTX 3060 Mobile, respectively.
The Intel Arc 7 lineup is going to utilize the flagship ACM-G10 GPU and will feature two variants, the Arc A770M and the Arc A730M. Both of them will be equipped with the full ACM-G10 configuration. The Arc 770M utilizes 32 Xe-Cores for 4096 ALUs, 32 ray tracing units, a graphics clock of 1650 MHz, and up to 16 GB GDDR6 memory that operates across a 256-bit wide bus interface and a TDP target of 120-150W.
The second part is the Intel Arc A730M, which houses 24 Xe Cores (3072 ALUs), 24 ray tracing units, a graphics clock of 1100 MHz, and 12 GB GDDR6 memory running across a 192-bit bus interface and a TDP target of 80-120W.
Both of these NVIDIA GPUs target the mid-range segment and hence it might be the case that Intel is not going to compete with RTX 3070 and above, contrary to what we expected. Importantly, the figures posted in the Guide represent a variety of laptop configurations.
Unfortunately, Intel did not provide all the necessary data, such as the TGP targets of each GPU. What is clear is that neither RTX 3050 Ti nor RTX 3060 were using the best TGP (Max-P) variants.
The laptop configurations used for the tests are
- Intel Arc A730M (TGP 80 to 120W): Core i7-12700H, 16GB of DDR5-4800
- Intel Arc A770M (TGP 120 to 150W): Core i9-12900HK, 16GB of DDR5-4800
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (TGP 60W) (ROG Zephyrus M16): Core i7-11800H, 16GB of DDR4-3200
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (TGP 85W) (MSI Pulse GL66): Core i9-12900HK, DDR5-4800

The data suggests that the A730M would be 13% faster on average than RTX 3050 Ti and A770M would perform 12% better than RTX 3060. Those are geometric means based on 17 game tests, most at Ultra and High settings. Intel chose 1920×1080 resolution for this comparison.
These are disappointing results as the Intel GPUs are just slightly better than one-year-old GPUs from other companies. The next-gen lineups from NVIDIA and AMD are just around the corner making it even tougher for Intel to gather buyers for its Arc lineup.
Furthermore, the drivers are not completely ready yet for the Arc series and it is one of the main reasons that there is no official information for a global release of the drivers. This is also evident in the gaming performance tests for A380M which you can check out here.
