Makoto Ojiro’s ‘Insomniacs After School ‘is an underappreciated treasure with a refined flow and attractive, likable characters. The series did not receive the same degree of attention, but it is still a wonderful romance.
After a slow start, the series takes a few chapters to sink its teeth into building up the primary plot and introducing its characters. ‘Insomniacs After School’ crafts a moving story about how the right people seem to come into our lives just when we need them the most.
Makoto Ojiro’s ‘Insomniacs After School’ (Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia) manga will end in two chapters, according to the 33rd issue of Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits magazine, released on Tuesday.
The next chapter of the manga will appear in the magazine’s 35th issue, which will be released on July 31. If there are no delays, the manga will end on August 7 with the 125th chapter.
The manga got an anime adaptation that premiered in Japan on April 10. HIDIVE streamed the series as it aired in Japan. The final episode’s release was in July, the anime has run its course for the season, but fans are curious about the particulars of Magari and Ganta’s relationship.
The good news is that you can continue reading the manga even if the anime doesn’t get renewed for a new season. The final episode of the anime adapts the manga chapters 55-57.
However, it leaves some bits and pieces out, creating somewhat of an anime-original ending. So, with a great series ending, let’s hope we get a second season of this fantastic anime.

Insomniacs After School (Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia) is a manga series by Makoto Ojiro. It started serialization in the Big Comic Spirits magazine in May 2019 and has been collected into 11 volumes as of January 2023.
The manga focuses on two school students, Ganta and Isaki. Both of them have insomnia, and Ganta walks in on Isaki’s secret spot in school, an abandoned observatory.
The two become quick friends and start being with each other often as they find solace in the other person.
