Insomniac warns after development feature included in latest Spider-Man 2 patch

Developers Insomniac have amassed great success in the market since the release of their hotly anticipated PS5 exclusive sequel – Spider-Man 2. Players were excited to be able to play Miles and Peter in the same title, along with a singular mission where players can embody Venom.

Soon after the latest Spider-Man 2 patch 1.002.000 that brings New Game Plus, Mission Replay, and time of day options to the title, developers Insomniac issued a warning. The new update makes the Development Game Menu available to the players, which, if used, could potentially corrupt saved games and affect the trophy progress.

The developers were quick to address this issue since it’s a development feature, meant for the developers and not the general end-user. In addition to the warning, the developers announced that they will release a hotfix soon to remove the development game menu.

However, no precise date has been announced for releasing the hotfix that disables the development game menu from the title. Generally, no player would stumble across the development game menu in the regular course of play.

Until the hotfix is released, button smashing should be reserved for the game, not the menus. Other than this mishap, there are a lot of promising additions to Spider-Man 2.

New Game Plus is the most significant inclusion, as it introduces Ultimate Levels, which are not tied to any difficulty. Symbiote Suit Styles will also be included, which can be unlocked via Ultimate Level Progression.

Golden Gadget Styles will upgrade the looks of the gadgets, and “Suit Tech Fusion” will allow players to unlock both perks in a shared suite tech slot. A new trophy has also been introduced for completing the New Game+ story. 

Players can replay the mission where they wreak havoc in the Oscorp tower as Venom. The time of the day can be changed along with the Symbiote tendril color via “Gameplay” settings. Two new suits have also been added inspired by the Hellfire Gala designs.

A purchasable Gameheads Fly N Fresh Suit pack for Miles and Peter and Photo Mode content have also been included. Besides these additions, there are many accessibility improvements and bug fixes that ensure that Spider-Man 2 can be played or replayed by a wider audience and swing through Manhattan and Brooklyn.
