Insider reveals ethnicity of Assassin’s Creed Red’s protagonist

Assassin’s Creed franchise is booming with up-and-coming titles as well as brand-new comics that seem to be very exciting.

The latest news comes from a reputed insider source, Tom Henderson, who reveals that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will feature two protagonists. One would be a male samurai, and the other would be a female ninja, a kunoichi. The male samurai is an African Refugee.

Tom Henderson is the person who initially reported that Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red would have a dual protagonist structure.

However, he acknowledged that in his earlier report, he got the gender of the shinobi and the samurai wrong. This was corrected in the latest tweet.

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red will be set in feudal Japan and was announced in 2022’s Ubisoft Forward Event. Although the title was absent in this year’s event, it is understood that the development is going well with the title currently in production.

This title will be a fan’s dream come true as this has been the most requested for the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red will reportedly be the last RPG entry to Assassin’s Creed franchise. This is after the widespread discontent amongst fans regarding the three epic titles of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla.

After AC: Red, Ubisoft, as promised, will be returning to the ways of stealth for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Ubisoft is already delivering on these promises.

This is visible in the upcoming title of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which is set in 9th Century Baghdad and relies heavily on stealth with revamped parkour mechanics.

Some history buffs have taken the African male samurai news and drawn a connection to Mozambique-born Yasuka, a famed retainer and weapon-bearer to a feudal lord named Oda Nobunaga.

They are excited at the prospect of a real-life character being AC: Red’s protagonist. However, this is unlikely, as some people have pointed out that Yasuke did not exist during the games setting.

It is known that Ubisoft does not strive for historical accuracy. Instead, it draws inspiration from history in designing the game. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what concoction Ubisoft is brewing with a unique choice of protagonist for feudal Japan. More information is expected soon ahead of the game’s release in the Fall of 2024.
