Inside Out 2’s trailer is sending shockwaves in the industry as it becomes the most viewed Disney trailer within just 24 hours of its release.
After an eight-year hiatus, Inside Out 2 is finally here to satiate the ‘Joy’ inside us and focus on Riley’s emotions as she steps into the treacherous teenage years. The sequel is expected to continue Riley’s story and explore the new emotions that arise inside her mind because of the hormonal debacles of adolescence.
Fans have waited almost a decade for this sequel, and the excitement is very much visible through viewership numbers!
The Walt Disney Company announced that the Inside Out 2 trailer, which dropped on November 9, has broken a massive Disney record.
It has racked up 157 million views within 24 hours, more than any Disney creative so far! Frozen II was the last film to hold this record, garnering 116.4 million views within a day.
Interestingly, we aren’t surprised by the staggering numbers that Inside Out 2 is racking up. Its predecessor was a blockbuster hit when it came out and was touted as one of the greatest animated films ever produced.
Besides critical acclaim, it was also a commercial hit, earning over $800 million at the box office.
This massive success was due to the concoction of some incredible animation work and the film’s interpretation of a child’s mind being hailed as imaginative and unbelievable!
However, the response to the Inside Out franchise goes a bit deeper than just quality and creativity. The films talk about the complicated broth of emotions children possess when they grow up and validate their feelings in a way that most adults don’t.
Therefore, they connect with the younger audience at a deeper level, which quintessential films generally don’t.
Finally, the teaser introduces us to a new emotion called Anxiety (Maya Hawke) inside Riley’s mind. All of us have experienced varying forms of anxiety as a teenager. However, rarely have we ever found someone who understands and acknowledges it.
Therefore, the sequel will likely focus on making the child (as well as the adults) aware of these emotional inertias that children go through while growing up.
This is the primary reason for the unprecedented success of the Inside Out franchise. The first film touched the hearts of millions, and they are excited to see how Riley deals with the zillion different emotions as she grows up to be an adult!
