Today, the world is a little less happy as we grapple with the unexpected demise of Matthew Perry.
The comedic genius has engraved his name in our hearts with unforgettable performances in shows like Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and West Wing. However, he’ll be most remembered for his career-defining role as Chandler Bing (or Miss Chanandler Bong, according to the TV guide) in F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
So, while we try to cope with the heartbreaking reality, here are some of the most iconic Chandler moments from F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
1. The One Where Chandler is Stuck in an ATM Vestibule with Jill Goodacre
On second thoughts, gum would be perfection!
In episode 7 of the first season of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, there’s a power outage in the entire city of Manhattan, leaving Chandler stuck in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodacre.
This sequence portrays Matthew Perry’s impeccable method-acting skills. Without having the help of dialogues, Chandler’s on-point expressions are enough to make us giggle.
2. The One With the Baby on the Bus!
Weird-ass clowns came to your birthday.
In season 2, episode 6, Chandler and Joey babysit Ben for a day.
However, things spiral out of hand when they leave Ben on a city bus and forget about him. Pandemonium hits the two as they leave no stone unturned to get Ben back in a hilarious sequence of events.
3. The One Where Joey Hugs Chandler
Season 2, Episode 16 gets pretty emotional when Joey decides to move out to rent a place of his own.
Chandler feels devastated but doesn’t say anything to his ‘best bud,’ In the final seconds of the episode, Joey leaves, and the door closes behind him. However, he rushes back into the apartment and hugs Chandler from behind.
Guess we all cried at that one, didn’t we?
4. The One Where A.A. Milne says, ‘Get out of my chair, dillhole.’
In season 3, episode 2, the friends are getting ready to attend a convention at Ross’ museum, but no one is ready.
This is where we get one of the most iconic Joey-Chandler moments in the series. They fight over who gets to sit on a sofa, and the absurdity of the entire situation gives us one of the most hilarious moments in the entire sitcom!
5. The One Where Rachel Handcuffs Chandler
Rachel, could I see you for a moment?
Chandler has a thing going on with Rachel’s boss, Joana. However, Rachel soon realizes this will jeopardize her job and asks Chandler to break up.
However, things go south pretty soon as Joana leaves a half-naked Chandler handcuffed inside her office and Rachel finds that out.
This is one of the few iconic Chandler-Rachel moments that make us giggle out of control!
6. The One Where Chandler Kisses Everyone
The friends are just back from London, and Mondler is just beginning to take off. However, they think it’s too early to make their relationship public.
Trouble strikes when Chandler mistakenly kisses Monica goodbye. In a hilarious turn of events, he makes up for it by kissing Rachel and Phoebe, who are naturally grossed out by the act. Talk about overcompensation!
7. The One Where Chandler and Phoebe Seduce Each Other
I am very happy we’re gonna have all the sex.
Phoebe proves to be a worthy competitor for Chandler as she fake-seduces him so that he confesses his relationship with Monica.
What starts as a simple prank slowly escalates into something extremely hilarious.
8. The One Where Chandler and Rachel Eat Cheesecake
We are dessert stealers! We are living outside of the law!
Chandler steals a cheesecake addressed to Mrs. Braverman downstairs. Although Rachel is skeptical initially, she becomes addicted to the cheesecake once Chandler stuffs a spoonful into her mouth.
This is a scarce comic element in the series that only features Chandler and Rachel, and we realize that their chemistry is incredible, too!
9. The One With the Pink Bunny
No bunny at all. Always no bunny at all!
It’s Halloween, and Monica has made Chandler dress as a pink bunny! Besides being a laughing stock for his costume, he also gets betrayed by Ross when they have a hilarious arm wrestling fight.
However, Chandler isn’t embarrassed because he’s already ‘maxed out!’
10. The One with the Final Farewell
Sure, Where?
Chandler is the one who says the final words in the entire sitcom. They are about to move out of Monica’s apartment for the last time when Rachel suggests getting some coffee.
In a last-ditch effort to stop us from crying our eyes out, the makers add a hint of comedy when Chandler says, ‘Sure, where?’
