The MCU series Ms. Marvel introduced fans to a new character with cosmic abilities. The titular character, played by Iman Vellani, is now set to appear in the 2023 film, The Marvels, along with her idol Captain Marvel and WandaVision’s Spectrum.
The teen actress has shared a new detail about her role in the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel. In her MCU series, Vellani’s Ms. Marvel changed places with Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) when she used her powers.
At the recent D23 Expo, the cast of The Marvels shared a clip from the 2023 sequel showing how exactly the three superheroes are thrown into each other’s lives every time one uses their powers.
This detail is significant, since this troubling place exchange is bound to strain each of their lives, and they must unite to figure out the reason behind it and fix it before an undisclosed villain dooms the three.
Recently, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani shared how her character will be the glue holding together the three superheroes in the upcoming film.
She has certain expectations about what this teamwork should look like, you know, from the comics and all these stories she hears about the Avengers. So, it’s not exactly what she dreamed it was going to be, so I think Kamala’s the glue of the group and holds these guys together.
From what we’ve seen in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, and also the credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Lord of the Ten Rings, Captain Marvel prefers to work alone but comes to Earth’s aid when needed. It is thus safe to assume she does not do well when it comes to teamwork.
And as shown in WandaVision, Monica Rambeau does not hold a high opinion of Carol Danvers, her mother’s best friend. After her mother died, Monica developed an unspoken grudge for Danvers as she never resurfaced for the funeral.
Thus, it makes sense for the younger superhero to be the one who keeps things civil between the two older superheroes and holds the team together. More details about the sequel’s plot are scarce, but the 2023 film will explore their dynamic in depth.
