The Ice Age is nowhere close to thawing, as the franchise returns with a sixth installation titled “The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.” Simon Pegg will be reprising his titular role.
Crash and Eddie kickstart this particular escapade with a silly proclamation of “Possum freedom” that inevitably ends up breaking an ice shelf. Under the shelf, Manny informs us, lies the Lost World.
When Crash and Eddie enter the Lost World, they find a familiar face waiting to guide them — Buck. But things are going to be anything but trouble-free, as the Lost World is known to be one of the most dangerous places ever!
Buck, who was first introduced in the Dawn of the Dinosaurs, is known to be quite unhinged and always thirsty for adventure.
He became such a popular character that Simon Pegg was called back to voice him in Collison Course, while his archival voice recordings were used for Continental Drift.
In 2016 itself, the franchise began planning its sixth movie. This later turned to plans of making a TV series around Buck.
In 2019, when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, a Buck series for Disney+ was still in the works, despite Disney shutting down Blue Sky Studios.
In the end, the concept found its best potential as a film. The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild will directly go to streaming on Disney+, January 28, 2022.
From the trailer, it seems that Manny (Ray Romano), Ellie (Queen Latifah), Sid (John Leguizamo), and Diego (Denis Leary) are also set to return. In true Ice Age flair, there may even be a few surprise guest cameos!
Crash and Eddie (voiced by Seann William Scott and Josh Peck) have always looked up to Buck, calling him their “superhero.” After all, Buck did previously devise a plan that saved the Herd (and the whole world) from an asteroid impact.
Although we don’t know what particular dilemma this movie will tackle, it is safe to assume we have we will Crash, Eddie, and Buck’s relationship as mentor-mentee grow, in the midst of a comedy, antics, and adventure.
