I’m Standing on a Million Lives: Release Date, Visuals and News

Being suddenly sent to a different world and told to complete timed quests or die is difficult. Especially considering if you are a loner and need to team up with your classmates.

The new anime is based on the manga I’m Standing on a Million Lives (or 100-Man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru) written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Akinari Nao.

So far, there are eight completed tankobon volumes serialized by Kodansha. The anime adaptation will be premiering this October. Let’s discuss its release date and plot in this article.

1. Release Date

The anime TV adaptation of the show was announced in March 2020. The show created by Yamakawa and Nao would be produced by Maho Film, directed by Kumiko Habara and scripted by Takao Yoshioka.

I’m Standing on a Million Lives is scheduled to be broadcast on October 2nd, 2020. The series will premiere on Tokyo MX, BS11, MBS, and WOWOW channels.

The anime has 12 episodes, and it finished production three months before its release.

Why is this anime any different from the other isekai anime out there?

2. Popularity of the Series

The manga began its serialization in 2016 and is currently on its ninth volume. An adaptation of a manga with only 38 chapters speaks for itself.

But with Akinari Nao, the artist behind Trinity Seven, the manga has great promise.

The story is interesting and different from other slice-of-life or harem isekai. It takes a whole another route of ‘kill within a time limit or die,’ which is pretty amusing in an entertaining manner.

Let’s get into this in detail by looking at the plot.

3. Expected Plot

Yotsuya Yusuke doesn’t care about getting into a good high school. He just wants to get away from people and make it home to his video games. He is practical, friendless, and not active in any clubs.

One day, he and his two female classmates, Shindou Iu and Hakozaki Kusue are suddenly sent to another world. There they meet somebody called the Game Master, who then grants them a time-limited quest.

To aid them in this quest, he bestows Shindou and Hakozaki with the roles of a Magician and a Warrior while Yusuke is randomly granted the role of… a Farmer?!

Before long, the unlikely trio find that they’re not just battling for their own lives, but the lives of millions in their town!

The start of any gripping story is its imagery, so let’s see how they look like!

4. New Key Visuals

The official Twitter account of the show posted the PV and the key visuals.

Never seen before, new Key Visual! I moved it to convey my view of the world. The show will be first broadcast on October 2nd, 2020.

5. New Trailers

There are two official PV released on the website.

One clip sets the story of the anime: Yusuke is a loner who has been transported to a world wherein he can die and has the lives of his townsmen in his hands.

We can see the other characters, Iu and Kusue, as well as the half-headed Grand Master. The censorship of the anime is a bit weird, as half the body of a dying girl is pixelated, maybe to emphasize it’s a game?

The other clip reveals the opening theme of the anime, Anti World, performed by Kanako Takatsuki.

Both the videos end by revealing the premiere date, October 2nd, 2020. These enthralling videos have attracted the attention of anime fans around the world. But do they like it?

6. Will the audience like this anime?

I. Response from the Manga Readers

Manga readers have seen a lot of potential in this one. Completely different from the other shows with the same genre, I’m Standing on a Million Lives is intriguing.

The MC is developed thoroughly in the entire arc and since the manga is ongoing, he still has room to grow.

The video game feel is also very refreshing form the ‘truck-san killed me, so I revived in a magical world’ trope.

The most controversial element is that of an MC being a farmer…which doesn’t help at all in killing monsters, or does it?

This manga has a lot of views and can still be read. But if you don’t want any early spoilers, you can wait till the anime releases; it’s only 2 months away!

II. Reactions to the Key Visuals and PV

Though the art doesn’t look like Nao’s work, it is very likable. The characters’ interaction onscreen is good and the plot works well with the animation.

Now that we know the series is going to be ‘beautiful and visually attractive,’ let’s discuss the staff creating it.

7. Anime Production

Let’s look into the technical details of this upcoming anime to check what influences the production of ‘I’m Standing on a Million Lives.’

I. About the Studio

Maho Film is producing the series. It is a fairly new studio, but it seems to have a knack for isekai.

It has already produced If it’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord. It has one more isekai anime By the Grace of Gods, releasing this October.

Let’s pray that their success would be as great as their predecessor.

II. Animation Quality

Maho Film is a new studio, and so far, it has only produced one anime.

Opening Song I’m Standing On a Million Lives

From its history, their action choreography isn’t that great, but we can expect it to be polished for a ‘death game’ anime.

Based on the new trailers and previous animations, we can confidently say that this is going to colorful and vibrant but also pull of darker tones.

The landscape and background visuals bring the fantasy to life. The art has a hint of realism to it and it makes the anime magical.

III. Director

Kumiko Habara is directing the project.

Kumiko was the assistant director for 12-sai and Angolmosis: Genkou Kassenki, and also was the episode director for PriPri Chii-san and Battle Spirits Burning Soul.

IV. Series Composer

Takao Yoshioka will be scripting the upcoming anime.

He has also done the series composition for famous anime like Dear Boys, Elfen Lied, Fukigen no Mononokean, High School DxD, Your Lie in April, and many more.

V. Theme Songs

Kanako Takatsuki sings the opening song Anti World. She has also sung the theme songs for other anime like Vlad Love and Love Live Sunshine.

The popular cosplayer from Shanghai, Liyuu, will be performing the ending song, Carpe Diem.

Liyuu has decided to sing the ED theme! Enjoy ‘Carpe Diem’! Nice to meet you everyone.
