The latest chapter, chapter 429, does focus on Uraraka, but along with that we get to see the past of the mysterious character. Read along to know about the spoilers and story of My Hero Academia Chapter 429. The chapter 429 is titled –I am Here.
The Past of the Mysterious Character
The manga chapter begins with the perspective of the mysterious character. His family treated him nicely after discovering that his quirk was a mutation. But later, he found himself locked in the basement of his house. His mutation was like Eri’s, which was not inherited from the parents. His mouth was tied up and dumped in the underground room. He was all alone and cried nonstop as he was afraid.
Years later, one day, he heard his parents shouting, “This country is doomed.” they threw him some piece of bread and never showed up again. Later, an explosion destroyed the house’s underground, creating a chance for him to escape.
After a long time in the underground, he was able to see the sunlight, but it scorched his eyes. He felt lost as he didn’t know where to go. He was all alone and scared in the middle of a world where people were smiling and working together. He didn’t know why they were smiling because the only life he knew was alone in the basement.
Back to Uraraka and Deku
Uraraka is reminded of Toga’s final words. She talked about the only reason she was alive: because of Himiko’s death, and she started crying. She tried to hide her tears and cover up when Deku arrived. She asked him how he got there. He replied that he used One for All. He figured out she might be here as this was where they had their special talk.
She said she didn’t want to be seen, but Deku told her that she had been acting weird since the entrance exam and prioritized others over herself. As this conversation occurs, we see scenes of Uraraka from the past, and Deku starts crying. Deku was saved by Uraraka multiple times, like with the black whip and in the Dark Hero Arc.
“You are my hero, so I don’t want to rely on your strength forever! Holding someone’s hand can put your heart at ease. Did you know that?” Deku then offered his hand to Ochako. She held his hand and started crying harder. “Himiko died because of me! If I hadn’t been stabbed…! Her quirk allowed her to give blood to anyone! Couldn’t she have been found sooner? If I’d known her when we were children, would things have been different?” she mourns.
Deku said that he had been thinking about Tenko and that the consequences of this war were different from the previous. The AFO had warned him about the thorny path, too. He knew that they might come out of this if they kept reaching out even when it was not their business.
And Further
The rest of the class arrived as they were worried about Ochako. Tsuyu hugged her as Bakugou asked about the embers. He asked if the embers were still there, and Deku replied that it was there. When the other students asked him why he didn’t tell about it to them, he replied that the heroism of many people completed the OFA and now they could all create something together.
After Deku’s narration, we can see that one of the U.A statues has been replaced by Monoma. He can be seen bragging about it. We also see Eri singing at Aoyama’s farewell party.
We see All Might telling Hawks that he wanted to expand the Billboard chart as several people who aren’t heroes helped in the war. They are discussing about creating a new title different from the “industrialized” heroes and the existence of many greatest heroes. The new title would be ‘eiyuu,’ a Japanese word for hero.
Back to the Mysterious Character
The mysterious character is still looking at the people around him, their smiles, and “normal” lives. He looked around and thought about why he was the only one who had to suffer when everyone he saw was happy. A black liquid started to ooze out of his fingers. The old lady from Tenko’s flashback came running, saying, “Sonny!” and held his hand.
The old lady wondered whether this boy was saved by the heroes and often lost sleep over it. After what Izuku and Midoriya said, everyone wanted to do something. “everything’s fine now, grandma is here,” she said. The boy looked at her and started to tear up.
Deku and Uraraka witnessed this scene and it brought a smile on their faces as the old lady reached out to the boy. The Chapter ends with a quote from Hawks- “A society where heroes have too much spare time.”
