1. Hunter x Hunter Chapter 409 Release Date

No. Hunter x Hunter is not on break next week. Chapter 409 will be released on Sunday, as per schedule, without any delay.
2. Hunter x Hunter Chapter 408 Recap
The chapter began with Borksen picking out the “Purpose” card. When Morena asked her why she picked that particular card, Borksen found it suspicious because Morena was being chatty. Morena argued, saying since they’re playing, they might as well get to know one another. After this, Morena started explaining her goal and her past.
Morena told Borksen that her ultimate goal was to destroy the Kakin Empire and eventually wipe out humanity. She said she needed Borksen’s power to make it happen. But Borksen wasn’t satisfied with such a vague answer, so Morena decided to share a bit more about her past. She explained that the Second Track refers to members of Kakin’s royalty who have no claim to the throne. The real Morena was one of them, but the Morena standing before Borksen wasn’t the same person. This Morena is an orphan with no royal blood.
She went on to explain two traditions in Kakin: Carne Levare and Lese-Majeste. Carne Levare is a royal festival held every few years, where nobles host elaborate banquets. Lese-Majeste, on the other hand, is anything that disrespects the royal family and could once be punished by death, even something as simple as looking at a royal.
As if things couldn’t get darker than this, Morena went on to say that her mother died during Carne Levare, overworked, and denied rest. After her mother’s death, Morena was scarred and cast aside to a facility where she was labeled as “flesh,” no longer considered part of the Second Track. She spent 20 years in that life before eventually becoming the leader of the Heil-Ly. She then told Borksen that she’d have to pick another card to get more answers.
After Borksen picked another card, she got to know the reason as to why she was kidnapped: it was because she was an unawakened specialist. Since specialists are really rare (about one in every thousand people), she then told her that she isn’t absolutely necessary for them and that they’re still searching for more specialists, and she just happened to be one of them; hence, she was picked.
Finally, Borksen had only two cards left to pick: the “X card” and the “No Card”. Morena explained that if Borksen would pick no, then that would mean an absolute rejection and that she would never join Heil-Ly. However, since they’d shared many secrets with her, they’d have to kill her if she refused. Hence, the game was a trap that would force her to join Heil-Ly. She could also pick the X card, which would void the entire game. So they could pretend as if nothing had happened, and Morena would trust Borksen with their secrets.
Before she could make a decision on what to pick, the game was interrupted due to an announcement that declared that Special Martial Law had been declared.
3. What To Expect In Chapter 409?
Since chapter 408 ended with an announcement saying that Martial law had been declared, we can expect Morena’s game to be put off temporarily, as Martial law is more of a pressing concern.
It is suspected that it was the first prince of Kakin, Benjamin, who declared Martial law. His reason for declaring Martial Law could possibly be the death of Prince Halkenburg, but this isn’t certain as of now. We can expect more information on this to be dropped in the next chapter.
