As per a TV Promos video, the upcoming episode of Young Sheldon will have Simon Helberg reprise his role as Howard Wolowitz.
The actor is set to co-narrate the episode titled “An Introduction to Engineering and a Glob of Hair Gel,” alongside Jim Parsons. Right now, it seems that the cameo is limited to a voice role only.
The older Sheldon has called on Howard to write an introduction to engineering, which is the latter’s field of expertise.
This little snippet ties in with the memory that Sheldon is about to narrate — his first formal encounter with civil engineering via a lecture in the spring semester of his freshman year.
It goes on to portray young Sheldon in class with a no-nonsense professor. Sheldon is known to be quite loyal to his own field of physics, while simultaneously looking down on other scientific areas.
So, it is possible that the episode explores those opinions once again… and perhaps, makes him see things in a different light (what else could the glob of hair gel refer to?!)
Something I have definitely missed is Sheldon bickering with his life-long Big Bang Theory buddies.
The small teaser doesn’t disappoint on this front, as the two squabble with each other, boasting about their respective achievements: Howard’s visit to the International Space Station and Sheldon’s Nobel Prize.
It is left to see how much of the episode Howard will end up narrating. It would also be fun if he pokes holes in or offers a different perspective about Sheldon’s memories.
Apart from having child versions of the Big Bang’s main cast appear in Young Sheldon, Kaley Cuoco and Amy Farrah-Fowler both have had small cameo voice roles in the show.
However, these were truly kept secret and were never publicized beforehand. And my, that was a treat!
In contrast to that, Simon Helberg’s involvement does seem a little more promotional. But hey, we will never say no to these precious cameos.
Young Sheldon’s Season 5 Episode 7 will air on November 18, after which the show will go on a short hiatus and return on December 2.
