Updating Genshin Impact on PC With The HoyoPlay Launcher – Here’s How to Do It

Genshin Impact Version 4.8 is live now—the grand finale of Fontaine before the curtain rises on Nathlan! If you’ve been on a hiatus from the game, now’s the perfect time to return and relive the moments of battling slimes and unlocking too many chests. 

But hold onto your Paimon plushies because the game launcher and installation procedure on PC have had a makeover, like a restaurant changing its menu. However, you’ll still get your yum adventure with just a few more clicks!

1. How to Update Genshin Impact on PC Before Nathlan Drops?

Players can update Genshin Impact on PC by downloading HoyoPlay from the official website of Hoyoverse. If the game is already installed, players must download an additional 15 GB file for the version 4.8 update. For new players, the game installation file, including the latest update, might take up to 70 GB to 80 GB.

HoyoPlay is the new launcher of Hoyoverse games such as Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai Impact 3rd, and Honkai Star Rail. Previously, players were required to install the specific launchers for all the games from their official websites. Now, everything is compiled into one. 

Note: The launcher used before June 17, 2024, is no longer compatible. You will receive an update push if you already have the old launcher. Click “Try Now” to download the brand-new HoYoPlay launcher.

2. Steps to Update Genshin Impact on PC using HoyoPlay 

• Click on each game card to access the details page for each game and download or find resources.

• Once you open the card, you will see an option to Download or update the game at the bottom right. As mentioned earlier, the time taken varies with the size of the game file. 

• After downloading a game, a shortcut will be displayed on the left. You can quickly switch to the details page of the corresponding game by clicking the button.

New players can also follow the same steps to install the game. The only difference is that the game file will be much bigger. 

3. Minimum PC Requirements for HoyoPlay Launcher

• Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit or above
• Processor: Intel Core i3 or equivalent
• RAM: 4 GB
• Graphics Card: No special requirements
• Storage Space: At least 1 GB available

The minimum requirements provided are for the HoYoPlay app only. Genshin Impact has separate minimum requirements. If you encounter issues launching the game after clicking on it, verify that your device meets the specific game’s minimum requirements.
