Drifting Zones are challenge events that test the drifting skills of a player in Forza Horizon 5. Players have to start a drifting challenge, drive on the given challenge path, and drift as much as possible to gain a high score. In these events, players can earn points only by drifting and not through casual driving. Players can unlock these zones quite easily and early in the game.
To unlock the Drift Zone in Forza Horizon 5, players first need to unlock and then complete the first Horizon Rush PR Stunts adventure chapter titled ‘Canyon Expedition’ by earning enough Accolade Points.
How to Earn Accolade Points in Forza Horizon 5
Players can earn accolade points by winning races, scoring high in danger zones, taking car photos, finding new locations, and racing online. Accolades are the new point system of Forza Horizon 5 that allows players to unlock and upgrade new locations or areas.
On the top right of your map screen, you can see the number of accolade points required to unlock the new Horizon Adventure Chapter. Keep collecting points till you unlock the Horizon Rush PR stunt chapter.
Pro Tip: Press the Page Down key on the map screen and set the map filter to “Accolades Available” to find the events that offer Accolade points.
Unlocking And Completing the Canyon Expedition
The Canyon Expedition is a fun and fairly easy three-part event under Horizon Rush PR stunt festival in Forza Horizon 5, which players must complete in order to unlock the Drift Zones.
I. Part 1- Driving to the location
In the event, Rami invites you to the Fiesta del la Luna, which is being held at the beach located on the east coast of Mexico. For the first part, all you have to do is drive to the festival’s location. Keep following the map and keep an eye out for the entries into the beach.
Once you are at the beach, head over to the exact festival’s location signaled by some beautiful fireworks to trigger the event.
II. Part 2- Driving the Parade Float
For the second part, Rami will introduce you to the parade float! You will be driving the parade float for the rest of this expedition. To complete the second objective, just drive from the start of the parade to the end. The path of the parade will be highlighted on your map.
III. Part 3- Testing out the Upgraded Parade Float
In the last part of the expedition, you will find out that the parade float has been upgraded and can now move quite fast. You have to test out the might of this funky-looking beast by completing three objectives.
Your first objective will be to test the float by driving into the canyon, which is reasonably straightforward. The second objective will ask you to test the float on the speed trap. Drive through the speed trap cameras, and this objective will be completed as well.
Your final objective will be to jump the parade float up a danger sign. Step on the gas and throw the parade float off the ramp to complete the Canyon Expedition. Once done, the drift zones will be unlocked and appear on the map of Mexico.
Rewards for Completing the Canyon Expedition
Players will receive a Fiesta Del La Luna Chicken Suit costume, some accolade points, and loads of XP for completing the Canyon Expedition. The Horizon Rush festival, located at the top of Copper Canyon, will also be unlocked along with Danger Signs, Trailblazers, Speed Zones, Speed Traps, and Drift Zones.
