The Ultimate Beginners’ Guide to Axie Infinity-How to Play & Earn Money

The popular online NFT-based strategy game Axie Infinity has taken over the crypto world by storm. It is a complicated play-to-earn strategic game with visually appealing graphics inspired by the mechanics of the Pokemon games and Hearthstone. The game involves PvP/ PvE battles and breeding the adorable little balloon-like creatures called Axies in turn-based gameplay.

Players need to download and create accounts on MetaMask, Ronin Wallet, and Axie Infinity, then deposit Ethereum to Ronin Wallet to start playing Axie Infinity. 

After creating all the accounts, players can purchase three Axies (minimum requirement to play) from the marketplace in exchange for Ethereum to start battling other players and breeding their Axies.

1. Downloading and Creating a MetaMask Wallet Account

Players need an Ethereum wallet like MetaMask to make cryptocurrency transactions and interact with the Ethereum blockchain. 

To create an account on MetaMask:

Step 1: Head over to MetaMask.

Step 2: Hit “Download” and select the OS you wish to download it on. Now, you will be redirected to the Chrome Web Store.

Step 3: At the Chrome web store, click “Add Extension” and wait for the wallet to install.

Step 4: Select the MetaMask from the “Extensions” in your browser.

Step 5: Click “Get Started” and select “Create a Wallet” if you are new to MetaMask otherwise, “Import your Wallet.”

Step 6: Select “No Thanks” on the “Help us Improve MetaMask” Screen.

Step 7: Now, Create a safe password with eight (8) characters or more for your wallet.

Step 8: Click “Next” on the video concerning your Secret Recovery Phrase safeguards.

Step 9: The next screen will show you your 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase, store them somewhere safe and click “Next.”

Step 10: Enter the 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase correctly in order and click “All Done.”

Once done, transfer some amount of Ethereum to your MetaMask wallet that you will be willing to spend in the Axie Infinity marketplace.

2. Downloading and Creating a Ronin Wallet Account

Ronin wallet is used to make cryptocurrency transactions to purchase assets such as AXS or SLP tokens and in-game items in Axie Infinity and store them on the Ronin blockchain.

Download the Ronin Wallet from the link here and make an account on it, following the same steps as we did for the MetaMask. 

The developers of Axie Infinity specially create the Ronin Wallet for its NFT Marketplace, and MetaMask is a standard wallet for the entire ecosystem of blockchains.

3. Installing and Getting Started with Axie Infinity

To get started with Axie Infinity:

Step 1: Go to axieinfinity.com.

Step 2: Click “Play Now” on the top-right corner and wait for the .zip file to install.

Step 3: Locate and Extract the .zip file. 

Step 4: Launch the application named “mavis_hub_setup.exe” extracted from the .zip file.

Step 4: Now, select “Login with Ronin Wallet” to enter the Axie Infinity ecosystem.

Once you are inside the game, it is time to purchase your three starter Axies and start playing the game to make some money!

4. How to purchase Axies in Axie Infinity?

Players can purchase Axies from the Axie Infinity Marketplace tab on the top of the Main Menu screen using the Wrapped Ethereum stored in their Ronin Wallet.

Here is how to do it:

Step 1: Go to the Axie Infinity “Marketplace.”

Step 2: Copy your “Ronin Wallet Address” to the clipboard.

Step 3: Select “Deposit to Ronin” and connect MetaMask with your Ronin Wallet by clicking “Next” and “Connect.”

Step 4: Paste your Ronin Address in the required tab and add the Ethereum amount you wish to deposit.

Step 5: Browse and Purchase your three starter Axies by selecting “Buy Now.”

5. How to play and make money in Axie Infinity?

Players can make money by breeding and selling Axies and Smooth Love Potions (SLP) in the Axie Infinity Marketplace. SLP can be earned by playing the Adventure and Arena Mode in Axie Infinity. 

Axies, the in-game creatures, are also NFTs, and because of the game’s popularity, their prices have shot up significantly in the market.

In Axie Infinity, the main goal is to create a team of three or more Axies and defeat your opponent in a turn-based strategy game by using different attacks and abilities of the Axies. Every win rewards player with some SLP that players can use to breed the Axies or sell them on the marketplace.

In Adventure mode, players have to battle against AI-controlled Axies at various levels, whereas in Arena, they have to battle online against another players. The Arena puts the player in a Matchmaking bracket. The higher you are placed in this bracket, the more SLP you will receive as a reward for winning against an opponent.

Axie Infinity is an NFT-based online video game developed by Vietnamese studio Sky Mavis, which uses Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies, Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) and Smooth Love Potion (SLP).

Axie Infinity is a trading and battling game that allows players to collect, breed, raise, battle, and trade creatures known as “Axies.” The game uses a “pay-to-play-to-earn” model where participants can earn a token which is traded on a crypto exchange as an Ethereum-based cryptocurrency.
