It wouldn’t be a Resident Evil game without puzzles. As we’ve seen from the previous Resident Evil remakes, puzzles are a way of finding important resources and they’re often used as a way to progress the main campaign.
The church puzzle in Resident Evil 4 remake requires the players to find a missing blue dial which is used to match a stained mosaic window, set out of order. This is one of the first puzzles in the game which will leave you scratching your head.
First you need to pull the lever which is present to the left of the puzzle. Pulling the lever will reveal three dials on the podium present right in front of the mosaic glass. You’ll notice that the leftmost dial is missing. Now you need to find the missing blue dial.
Finding the Blue Dial
To find the missing blue dial, turn around and head to the front of the church. Go left and follow the path until you reach a cupboard. This cupboard will contain the missing blue dial. Now head back to the puzzle in order to fit the blue dial on the podium.
Once you’ve inserted the blue dial on the podium, you’ll now be tasked with matching the stained mosaic glass in a specific order. Now you’ll be able to turn all of the three dials until the pieces of glass match with the golden insignia in the middle of the mosaic glass.
Rotating the Stained Glass
1. Rotate the Green Dial: Start solving the puzzle by rotating the green dial. Line up the point in middle of the insignia with the middle piece of green glass by rotating the green dial to the right.
2. Rotate the Red Dial: Move on to the red dial next. Line up the tip in the upper left with the red glass by rotating the red dial to the right.
3. Rotate the Blue Dial: Now you need to rotate the blue dial to finish solving the puzzle. This will be easier as you just need to fill the gaps in the stained-glass window. Rotate the blue dial to the right until the blue glass fills all of the gaps available on the window.
The finished puzzle should look something like this:
There are no rewards for solving this puzzle. However, a door will unlock to the left side of the church which will help you get access to the church’s second floor and progress through the main campaign.
