Guide to Save the Prisoner: Bolt Cutter Location – Amnesia: The Bunker

Amnesia: The Bunker is a survival horror game in which players have to escape out of a desolate and nightmarish World War I bunker. The bunker is home to unimaginable horrors as well as a German prisoner. This prisoner’s life can be saved. However, it is easy to mess up and seal his fate.

The German prisoner in Amnesia: The Bunker can be saved by unlocking his cell door from the Warden’s Office, retrieving the bolt cutters, and then locking the cell door again before the monster gets to him. Players need the wrench in order to get into the Warden’s Office.

Head to the Warden’s Office

Go to the Prison area to open the cell door. To get inside the cell door, access the Warden’s Office by breaking the wooden door to the right of the cell door.

Doing so will alert the monster so hide for a few minutes before going back to the broken door. Turn to the right to notice a vent leading to the Warden’s Office. This is where the wrench will come in handy.

Unlock the German Prisoner’s Cell

Head inside the Warden’s Office and use the switchboard to unlock the cell holding the German prisoner, which would be the third door on the right-hand side.

Make sure you have enough power in the generator back at the Administrator’s Office to control the electric cell locks.

Collect the Bolt Cutters and Return Back to Warden’s Office

After unlocking the cell door, sprint out of the Warden’s Office, either by the vent or by the door to the left. Head to the German prisoner’s cell cutter and collect the bolt cutters located beside him quickly.

Once you have collected the bolt cutters, the monster will spawn. Immediately head back to the prison switchboard inside the Warden’s Office and close the cell holding the German prisoner. This will save the prisoner’s life.

The game rewards you with the achievement “Life Preserver” after you save the prisoner from being monster-food.
