Final Fantasy 16 The Rising Tide, the much-awaited DLC is finally here. The latest DLC is well-received by the fans as it brings an all-new region – Mysidia to the game for players to explore and take on various new adventures.
However, the latest DLC has also left many players entirely puzzled, as they are unable to access and ride their trusted Chocobo steed, Ambrosia in the game. This is because the Chocobo riding feature is initially locked in The Rising Tide.
1. How to ride Chocobo in Mysidia in Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide?
The Chocobo riding feature can be unlocked by completing the sidequest “Bird of Passage” in Mysidia in The Rising Tide DLC of Final Fantasy 16. This side quest is given to the players by Manda, the girl who looks after the Chocobo stables in the village of Haven.
This side quest will task you to explore a couple of locations in Mysidia and interact with a few NPCs to unlock the Chocobo, which is the optimal way of traveling in the game.
2. How to complete the Bird of Passage quest in Final Fantasy 16 The Rising Tide?
To complete the Bird of Passage quest in The Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide:
- Trigger the quest by meeting Manda near the Chocobo stables in the village of Haven.
- Head to the stores to speak to Manda’s Father.
- Get Mimett Gourd from Rowan, the traveling trader near Martha’s Rest.
- Hand over the Mimett Gourd to Manda’s Father in Northreach and wait for Ambrosia, the Chocobo, to arrive.
Prerequisite to start the Birds of Passage quest:
- Completed the first two side quests in the village of Haven.
- Have the first encounter with Leviathan’s Dominant.
3. Speaking to Manda’s Father in Birds of Passage Quest
Manda’s Father is just 80Y away from Manda in a store with a giant yellow pointer marking his location. The store is located right to the backside of the players from the point where they are talking to Manda.
Head straight to the location and interact with him. A long dialogue will ensue where he will assure you that he can ferry Ambrosia to you. However, he will need a couple of Mimett Gourd to keep her calm during the journey through the waters.
4. Finding Mimett Gourd in Mysidia
Mimett Gourds are rather easy to find. Fast Travel to Martha’s Rest and find Rowan, the traveling trader. He is standing near the obelisk. Talk to him and he will happily give you a few Mimett Gourds for your objective.
5. Taking the Mimett Gourd Back to Manda’s Father and Completing the Quest
Fast travel to Northreach. Travel 250Y to the west of the town. Follow the large yellow quest marker. At the end of the path, you will find Manda’s father near the shoreline. Interact with him and a dialogue will initiate.
Handover the Mimett Gourd to Manda’s father and he will transport Ambrosia to Haven in Mysidia.
After a brief cutscene, the quest will be marked as completed.
You will receive 25x Wyrrite and 5,600 XP as rewards for completing this mission.
6. About Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy XVI is an upcoming action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The sixteenth main instalment in the Final Fantasy series is scheduled for release on June 22, 2023 for the PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive. The game will feature segmented open environments and an action-based combat system involving melee and magic-based attacks. There are also recurring series features, including Chocobos, and summoned monsters called Eikons, fought as bosses and used through channelling their power in combat.
