The Best Responses to the Builder: AC Valhalla “The Big Finish” Guide

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the player travels across ancient Europe, completing quests and interacting with some of the most renowned gods or historical figures. For instance, ‘The Big Finish’ takes place during Havi’s adventure in Asgard, where he requests the builder to construct a tower.

But, during the cutscene, gamers are forced to choose from a set of responses while interacting with the builder. Therefore, in this article, I’ll go through what you should say to the builder and how to complete The Big Finish quest in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

What do you say to the builder in AC Valhalla?

Choose Options While Talking to the Builder

You can respond to the builder however you want in The Big Finish because it doesn’t affect future events. It only has an impact on the builder’s response towards you during the cutscene at the end of the quest.

You can choose these options while talking to the builder when he notices the queen scowling at him:

  • She has no appetite.
  • She hungers for you.
  • You disgust her.

Regardless of choice, the builder will continue to be suspicious of the queen, and the mission will continue.

To begin the conversation with the builder, Havi should go to the Indre Holm tower and activate the Big Finish quest.

I. Examine the Builder’s Tower

Examine the Builder’s Tower

The first objective in this quest is to check out the tower built by the mysterious builder. Then, talk to him to trigger a cutscene. You’ll learn that he needs only one rune to complete the construction, which he’ll add only after the nuptials with Freyja.

During the cutscene, the gods, led by Freyja, will appear on the scene. The builder will notice that the queen is acting suspiciously and demands an explanation from the protagonist. Navi can answer anything here, as it’ll not affect the events in the future.

Later, it’s revealed that Loki has impersonated Freyja and came to the construction site on her behalf. When the builder demands to see the real queen, Freyja will appear in the cutscene. First, she’ll turn to Tyr and Thor, then accuse Havi of taking the burden of her decision.

The discussion is interrupted by a furious builder, who claims that this is a pathetic spectacle orchestrated for him. When Havi threatens him, the constructor says that he won’t finish the tower without Freyja and leave. Loki says that the constructor is no longer needed because he knows where the builder keeps his enchanted paint.

II. Search for Builder’s Paint

Search for Builder’s Paint

Assassin’s Creed gamers can use Odin’s Sight to locate the teal circles that lead to Builder’s Paint. The objective marker is about 180 meters away from the tower.

Head to the circles, and they’ll lead to an entrance with some breakable wood in front of it. Destroy the wood and get inside the area. Then, you’ll spot two red animals in the cave, but be cautious because when you get near, they’ll transform into Jotunheim enemies and attack you.

After that, talk to Loki about the builder. When you ask if he knew the person before you met the mysterious man at Heimdall’s tower, Loki immediately hesitates to tell you the answer. After adding some pressure, Loki will admit that he brought him to Asgard because the builder saved his son from Jotunheim.

Open the Red Door

Next, open the red door nearby and go to the next cave. Inside, you’ll need to defeat more shapeshifting enemies before you can grab the paint in here. Then, escape from the hideout and go to the Indre Holm tower.

But, once Havi paints the last rune of the protective barrier, the builder will appear and transform into a giant Jotun. Later, the shapeshifter will admit that he didn’t make the tower to protect the residents of Asgard. Instead, he wanted to trap the protagonist inside to deal with him.

III. The Builder Boss Fight

The Builder Boss Fight

The builder is a massive opponent who fights with a hard-hitting double-handed hammer. But, to defeat him, you can attack the weak spot on the top of his head. Hitting it twice will stun the builder, which creates an opening for heavy damage with a single blow.

The best way to shoot the head is to hit it mid-air. To explain, when the builder slams into the ground, a spark of magic will travel outward. If you’re in the way, you’ll be thrown high into the air. Aim at the builder with the bow, and the game will move in slow motion for a while, giving you enough time to target the weak spot.

Defeating the Builder Boss

When the builder’s health drops below 50%, he’ll use supernatural powers to strengthen himself significantly. Also, the boss will create a barrier to trap Havi within a small area. However, you have a few seconds to run away before the barricade closes.

Keep dodging the builder’s sweeping attacks and make quick counters until you take down the boss. After the fight, a cutscene will trigger, and Havi will kill the builder without showing any mercy.
