How to play Spec Ops mode solo?- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has launched globally on all platforms and both Multiplayer and Spec Ops modes are now available for players to hop in and play with friends. Many people are curious whether Spec Ops mode can be played solo and we’re here to answer that. Most players would prefer playing Spec Ops with a teammate but there are some players who like to play solo. If you’re one of these players, then you’re at the right place.  

There isn’t a definitive way to play Spec Ops solo in Modern Warfare 2 but you can do so using a trick. Join a Spec Ops match and wait for the other player to leave. In missions like Low Profile, you can land at a different area than your teammate in order to make them leave. 

This trick won’t always be effective though. There are no distinct drop places in missions like Defender Mt.Zaya, so all you can do is just wait and hope the other player eventually leaves the game. If you die while playing solo and decide to try another quest, you’ll respawn alone instead of being forced to join another lobby.  

But by using this trick to play solo, you might ruin the enjoyment for the other player since, after all, the mode is designed to be played together. So, in conclusion, you can play solo in Spec Ops mode using the above mentioned trick but there’s no official single-player only Spec Ops mode as of now. It’s solely a multiplayer experience but Infinity Ward could add a single-player Spec Ops mode in the future, although it’s unlikely.  

Can you play Spec Ops offline? 

The Spec Ops mode in Modern Warfare 2 unfortunately cannot be played offline as the Spec Ops missions are designed to be played and completed together with a teammate. Since it’s a solely multiplayer experience, it cannot be played offline.  

Without an internet connection, the Spec Ops mode will not be accessible to players. It’s also worth noting that playing Spec Ops mode with a friend in split-screen mode isn’t possible. But there are  game modes in the game that can be played in split-screen mode.  

How many players can join a Spec Ops match? 

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops mode can only be played by a pair of players. So, only two players can play together unlike previous Modern Warfare games which allowed a maximum of 4 players to join the game.  

Only a pair of players can join a game as each of the assignments in Spec Ops is designed to be completed by two people at once. So, if you were planning on playing the Spec Ops mode with more than 2 players, then I’m afraid it’s not possible.
