Genji Gloves Guide: Method to obtain the accessory – Final Fantasy 16

Genji Gloves are one of the strongest accessories that you can unlock in Final Fantasy 16. In the previous Final Fantasy games, you’d have to defeat Gilgamesh, a recurring character in the series, in order to get the gloves, but this time the process of getting it is different as Gilgamesh does not return in the series’ latest entry.

Genji Gloves can be obtained at the Patron’s Whisper (a shop at the Hideaway counter on the Mess) by reaching a Renown level of 2,365. There are sixteen Renown Ranks, and the Genji Gloves are available after reaching the second-last rank “Continental Acclaim”.

The more Renown you earn, the lower you go on the list and the better rewards you get. You’ll probably obtain the accessory in the endgame since you’ll need a lot of Renown, but it can be easily earned by doing side quests and hunting Notorious Marks.

I suggest going for the Notorious Marks that pop up on the Hunt Board first, as defeating them will not only give you tons of Renown but also other rare and useful materials like Darksteel, Orichalcum, etc. But if they’re too strong for you, then focus on the side quests for now.

1. What do the Genji Gloves do in Final Fantasy 16?

Genji Gloves increase not just one type of damage, but all damage dealt to enemies by 5%. It might not seem much, but that 5% increase is very useful, especially when using Clive’s strongest abilities. But it cannot be upgraded on the first playthrough of the game.

In New Game Plus, you’ll be able to upgrade it by getting another pair of Genji Gloves and fusing them with the previous one to craft Genji Gloves +1. This will increase the damage dealt to enemies from 5% to 10%. It’s worth noting that you’ll have to earn all the Renown again in NG+ to get the second pair of Genji Gloves.

Alternatively, you can also sell the accessory to the merchant for 50,000 Gil, but I highly recommend not doing that as it’s one of the strongest accessories in the game. Upgraded or not, these Gloves are very useful during battle, and even though the damage increase might not seem like a lot on paper, the damage dealt is surely a lot.

2. About Final Fantasy XVI

Final Fantasy XVI is an upcoming action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The sixteenth main instalment in the Final Fantasy series is scheduled for release on June 22, 2023 for the PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive. The game will feature segmented open environments and an action-based combat system involving melee and magic-based attacks. There are also recurring series features, including Chocobos, and summoned monsters called Eikons, fought as bosses and used through channelling their power in combat.
