The God of War Nornir chests are rare treasures found in three out of the nine realms of the game, namely, Midgard, Alfheim, and Helheim. They possess major stat-boosting items like Horn of Blood Mead and Idunn Apples.
Locating Nornir chests is not an easy task, but they’re worth the effort because they can help you make Kratos immensely powerful and prepare him to battle against stronger bosses.
One such hidden chest is in the Veithurgard region of Midgard. Here’s how you can get your hands on it in God of War 4.
When you reach Veithurgard in God of War, take a left from the altar to which the dragon is tied. Once you come across a clearing, take a right from the path leading below the short bridge and head towards a climbable ridge. The Nornir chest is at the top of the ledge, adjacent to a closed gate.
However, to unlock the Nornir chest in God of War 4, you’ve to find three seals resembling the C, R, and N runes. Follow the steps below to locate each seal in Veithurgard:
How to unlock the three seals required for Nornir chest?
I. C Rune Seal
Once you find the chest, take a left and head towards the bridge. Instead of crossing the bridge, spot a ridge you can hop off. Ahead of it, on the opposite end of the plateau, you’ll find the C rune seal nearby a fallen tree trunk.
Smash it with your ax.
II. R Rune Seal
The second rune seal in Veithurgard is behind the locked gate.
Head down to the path underneath the bridge. You’ll come across a large stone altar with enemies praying on it. Try not to attract attention, but if you do, kill the enemies and head down the path to the right of the stone altar. Eventually, you’ll reach a gate that opens to the R rune seal on the right. Feel free to shatter it with your Leviathan.
III. N Rune Seal
To get to the last rune, head back to the stone altar where the enemies are praying and locate a stone archway in its perimeter.
The N rune seal is in the opening of the stone archway. Break it and head back to the Nornir chest to open it.
Note: In God of War 4, the rune seals to unlock the Nornir chest in Veithurgard are not missable. You can locate and smash them in any order to open the chest.
How to reach Veithurgard in God of War?
Veithurgard is an undiscovered area situated in Midgard, to the east of Lake of Nine. To enter the region, you need to find your way around a giant locked gate in between Buri’s storeroom and Stone Falls.
To do so, climb on the gigantic chain in the Stone Falls boat dock, next to the gate.
Hereafter, the navigation depends on the water level of the lake underneath.
I. Unchanged Water Level
If the lake has an unchanged water level, avoid the bridge to your right and go through the gate ahead of you.
Kill the incoming enemies and spot a disk on the left of the gate you just passed through. Since the disk is holding the bridge, you can throw your Leviathan to break it and release the bridge.
Through the gate you initially crossed, go to the bridge and jump across it. Further on, use the wheel on your right to open the giant locked gate.
II. Low Water Level
If the lake has a low water level, continue to climb up the gigantic chain in the Stone Falls boat dock. You’ll notice an iron gate and the previously used bridge on your left.
Head towards it and use the wheel on your right to open the enormous locked gate.
After opening the gate, get back into your boat and sail through the Veithurgard Pass. Then, dock at the next station, slay a few enemies, and climb the cliff behind the area. Once you cross Brok Huldra’s shop, follow the path through the crawlspace. It’ll lead you to another lake.
Hence, marking your entry into Veithurgard.
The Reward of Opening the Nornir Chest
Once you open the Nornir chest in Veithurgard by smashing all the three rune seals, you’ll receive the Horn of Blood Mead as the reward.
There are nine Horns of Blood Mead hidden throughout the map. For every three horns you find, the capacity of Kratos’ Spartan rage meter will increase, allowing him to stay stoked for longer.
