Guide to Find the Detonator Handle: The Tunnels – Amnesia: The Bunker

When it comes to having a balance between horror and puzzles, Amnesia excels at it. The latest entry in this iconic series, Amnesia: The Bunker, seems to be no different from its predecessors and contains special items obtained by solving puzzles. The detonator handle in the game is an important item required to progress the story.

The detonator handle can be found inside a room in the Arsenal inside the Roman Tunnels. However, before players can obtain the detonator handle, they’ll need to get the Chain Cutters.

After lifting the emergency lockdown, you’ll require the bolt cutters. We’ll discuss how to obtain the bolt cutters in a bit. Next, head to the Arsenal and cut the chained gates next to the Clerk’s Office. You’ll notice a pump there.

Before turning it on, head to the body of water and pull the power switch. Return to the pump and turn it on, which will drain the water inside storage. Draining the water will let you access the back of the room.

Head to the end of the room, where you’ll come across a tunnel. Having a light source will come handy while travelling through the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, you’ll come across a place like this:

From this place, head right and go through the hallways. You’ll come across a statue at the end of the hallways. A door will be present by the statue which can be blown up using a grenade.

Don’t worry about carrying a grenade as you’ll find one inside a room while travelling through the hallways. After blowing up the door, head straight through and you’ll find the detonator handle there.

How to get the Bolt Cutters in Amnesia: The Bunker?

The bolt cutters can be found in the Prison area of the Bunker. This area can be accessed by lifting the Emergency Lockdown. To lift the lockdown, head to the Mission Storage and access the locker named ‘Delisle’ to obtain the replacement wheel. The code to unlock it is randomized.

Head back to the West Hallway from the Admin Office near the Mission Storage and attach the replacement wheel to the lockdown controls to lift the Emergency Lockdown. You’ll need a wrench as well, which can also be found in the Mission Storage from the locker Foreman Stafford.

Go back to the Prison area to open the cell door. However, it’s never as easy as it looks. To get inside the cell door, access the Warden’s Office by breaking the wooden door to the right of the cell door. Be aware of alerting the monster. Turn to the right and access the vent with the wrench. Once you’re inside the Warden’s Office, you’re safe.

Make sure you have enough power to last a couple of minutes in the generator back at the Admin Office because you need to run in a bit. Head inside the Warden’s Office and use the switchboard to unlock the cell holding the German prisoner, which would be the third door on the right side.

Once you’ve unlocked the cell door, head out of the Warden’s Office, either by the vent or by the door to the left. Make sure the coast is clear and the monster isn’t nearby. Head to the German prisoner’s cell and collect the bolt cutters.

How to escape the Roman Tunnels in Amnesia: The Bunker?

The Roman Tunnels can be escaped with the use of the detonator handle near the Arsenal, where you entered the tunnel from. Once you obtain the detonator handle, head back to the exit near the Arsenal and plant the explosive charges. Now that you have the handle, the explosives can be armed.

Before you set off the explosives, make sure you have enough items to regenerate your health such as bandages and enough ammo for the Shotgun or the Revolver. Once you’re prepared, blow the charges to clear the rubble from the exit.
