Easy Guide to Locate and Obtain the Wrench – Amnesia: The Bunker

Amnesia: The Bunker features many puzzles for players to solve. Some of them can be straightforward, others not so much. The wrench is one of the most useful tools in the game and can be used to solve puzzles and access new areas. But obtaining the wrench is a puzzle in itself.

The wrench is located in Foreman Stafford’s locker in Mission Storage and it can be unlocked using a randomized 4-digit code found on a dog tag. 

Finding the dog tag is quite a journey, as you’re going to have to make multiple stops before you actually find it. It can be pretty tedious, but it’s worth it,  as the wrench is an important and useful tool.

I. Where is Foreman Stafford’s dog tag located in Amnesia: The Bunker?

Foreman Stafford’s dog tag is located in Pillbox. The door to Pillbox is locked, and the key to unlocking it is located in the chapel.

There are two ways in which you can unlock the Pillbox. One is a faster and riskier method, while the other is a slower and safer one that involves finding the key in the chapel. But first, let me explain how to get to Pillbox.

II. Where is Pillbox located and how to get there?

Pillbox is located inside a rat-filled tunnel. To get there, first head to Maintenance. After that, move to the end of the first corridor, then turn left by the switch. Move along until you come across the workshop. Go inside the workshop, and you’ll find the tunnel filled with rats.

Clear the rat-filled path forward, using gasoline or flares. If you’ve already found the lighter, then you can also create a Torch by combining a Stick and a Piece of Cloth to scare off the rats. On the other side of the tunnel, turn left, and you’ll notice a locked door to Pillbox.

III. How to access the Pillbox?

There are mainly two ways to access the Pillbox:

• By breaking the Munition Storage to the left of Pillbox using a brick, and then breaking down the wooden blockade inside to access the Pillbox.
• By unlocking the Pillbox door using a key. There’ll be a note on the door stating that the key has been given to a priest who’s located in the chapel.

I do not recommend the first way of getting inside the Pillbox as breaking down the wooden blockade will cause a lot of noise, which will attract the monster towards you. If you choose to use this method, then be prepared to fend off the beast and make sure you’re well equipped as well.

If you choose to get into the Pillbox using the second method, then all you need to do is head to the chapel and get the key. From the Pillbox door, head south and into the Maintenance area. Go through the left wall, then head east, and you’ll arrive at the chapel. It’s located right beside Foreman’s Quarters.

There will be a lot of traps, so always be aware of your surroundings and avoid them. Go inside the chapel, and on your right side will be the confession booth, where the priest’s corpse is located. The Pillbox key is next to the priest’s corpse.

IV. How to obtain the wrench in Amnesia: The Bunker?

After obtaining the key, head back to the Pillbox and use the key to open the door. It’s a safe room, so progress can be saved here. Climb the ladder, and you’ll find Foreman Stafford’s corpse lying with the dog tag containing the locker code for the wrench.

Don’t stand in the open, as you might get shot and injured by enemy fire. After obtaining the dog tag, head back to Mission Storage by backtracking. You can also break the lock on the door to the changing room located in the storage hub. After reaching Mission Storage, simply unlock the locker using the code, take the wrench, and you’re good to go.
