Rise of the Ronin has a long list of both main storyline and bond missions. The choices made by the players in these thrilling missions have several effects on how the game and its story continues on. In fact, these choices can even decide whether you will get certain missions or not.
Owing to this thrilling game mechanics, several players are facing issues getting to particular missions, such as “The Watchman,” which is an end-game bond mission.
How to get The Watchman bond mission in Rise of the Ronin?
The Watchman bond mission can be unlocked by choosing to spare Naosuke Ii, the final boss of Chapter 1 during “The Sakurada Gate Incident” main mission. It can later be initiated in Edo during chapter 3 by travelling to Shiba region, and accepting the quest given by a merchant to guard his shop.
After sparing Naosuke li, you have to play the game until you finish the Kyoto main mission “Wildfire.” You will be then asked to travel back to Edo. The Watchmen mission will be available once you are back in Edo.
Fast travel to the location as shown in the map below and follow the quest marker to find a merchant looking for a guard for his store.
Accept his offer by select the “Leave it to me” dialogue option to initiate “The Watchman” quest.
How to unlock Akikatsu Manabe as an Ally in Rise of the Ronin?
To unlock Akikatsu Manabe as an Ally in Rise of the Ronin:
- Initiate “The Watchman” bond quest in Edo during Chapter 3.
- Defeat all the vandals.
- Talk to Akikatsu Manabe.
- Go back and talk to the merchant to complete the quest.
Completing “The Watchman” mission unlocks Akikatsu Manabe as your ally. Note that the dialogue options that you choose during your conversation with Manabe does not affect the bond between you and him. You can choose any option and he will still choose to side with you.
The Watchman is one of the rare quests which may not appear during your gameplay because of making wrong choices in the early game. However, if you make the correct choice and show humility to your enemies, you will have one more ally to help you out throughout the game.
