The Spirit Ashes are an extremely useful feature of Elden Ring that allows players to summon spirit allies to help them in regular combat and boss fights. The legendary Mimic Tear spirit is arguably the best summon in the game, as it takes the exact form of the summoner to fight alongside them.
This spirit summon has a hefty health bar, wields the same weapon as the player, does severe damage to the enemy, and the best part, it requires only 660 HP to summon rather than FP. But, as good as the Mimic Tear spirit is, obtaining it is still tricky.
Players can find the Mimic Tear spirit ashes inside a chest in Night’s Sacred Ground, located in Nokron, Eternal City, after defeating General Radahn at Redman Castle in the southeast corner of Caelid.
Locating the Mimic Tear Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring
To get the Mimic Tear spirit ashes, you must first make your way to the Redmane Castle located near the ‘Chamber outside the Plaza’ grace site. Here, defeat the Great Rune boss General Radahn, the Starscourge.
Once he is down, a world event will take place where a shooting star will crash into the ground at East Limgrave to the west of your current location. You now have to trace the location of this crash site, which is at the south of the forest, located east of the grace site called ‘Waypoint Ruins Cellar.’
Heading down the crater created by the star’s impact will lead you to a secret location in the game called Nokron, Eternal City. After passing through the entrance, jump down onto the house roof and make your way through the stone bridge. There is only one way forward into the city, so you will quickly approach the next boss.
The following optional boss you will meet is none other than the Mimic Tear itself. It’s a relatively easier boss battle, but defeating it is not how you get the Mimic Tear spirit. You have to find the spirit ashes for it.
After defeating this boss, make your way forward into the city through the long stone bridge and turn left at the end, where you will find the Ancestral Woods grace site. Jump onto the roof of the building next to this grace site, take a right, and parkour your way through the only path into the Night’s Sacred Ground.
Keep following the same trail until you reach a massive building. You will find a large chest inside this building behind a fog wall containing the Mimic Tear spirit ashes. Using the Mimic Tear spirit ashes, you can now summon a strong ally that looks exactly like you.
How to equip and use Mimic Tear summon in Elden Ring?
To equip Mimic Tear spirit summon in Elden Ring:
Step 1: Go to the Main Menu.
Step 2: Select the ‘Pouch’ category on the top right screen.
Step 3: Navigate and find the Mimic Tear Spirit Ashes in the new window.
Step 4: Equip the Mimic Tear spirit ashes by selecting ‘OK.’
Now every time you need an ally in a brutal battle, press X (or square) to call upon the Mimic Tear spirit in exchange for 660 HP by ringing the spirit bell. Remember, this spirit mimics your look and weaponry, so equipping a strong weapon and armor before summoning it will allow it to do more damage to the enemies.
