The Shadow of Erdtree DLC introduces various new items and weapons in the game including the Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana. This rugged curved sword can easily be one of the most-liked weapons, even though it doesn’t look like a Katana at all.
However, acquiring it is not easy. To get it, you must traverse into the depths of the Realm of the Shadows, defeat the Katana’s original owner, and acquire it as a reward.
1. How to get Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana in Elden Ring?
Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana can be acquired by defeating Ancient Dragon-Man in the Dragon’s Pit, located in the central-southwest region of the Shadow Realm in Elden Ring DLC.
This location is not far from the starting point of the DLC campaign, and you can easily acquire this Katana early on in the game, which will later help you with all your Dragon battles.
2. Finding Dragon’s Pit in the Elden Ring DLC
Starting from the Gravesite Plains site of grace at the very beginning of the DLC campaign, head towards the north until you reach the Ellac Greatbridge.
Right after crossing the bridge, you will reach the Castle Front site of grace. From here, you have to walk on the designated path to the southeast, and you will soon hit the Pillar Path Waypoint site of grace.
At this location, you will see several broken Dragon statues in the southwest direction. Head down this path and it will ultimately lead you to the Dragon’s Pit dungeon.
Enter the cave and take the left pathway. Jump down and keep moving through the path located northwards.
Stick to the ledge on the left and head to another tunnel opening in the east.
This will take you to a large cavern area. Take the tunnel here on the south. Keep walking until you reach a wide gap. now, you have to take a leap of faith and jump down.
You may think it will flash a death screen but no, after free-falling for a while, you will land safely on solid ground. Here you will meet the ‘Ancient Dragon-Man.’ Defeat him and claim the Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana.
Surely, this sword isn’t the best-looking weapon in the game but, if Katanas and heavy weapons are your things then definitely go for it. It is ideal for the numerous dragon fights that Shadow of the Erdtree throws at players.

Elden Ring is a major title released by FromSoftware in 2022, the developers of Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne, and the Dark Souls franchise. Set in the ‘Lands Between’, players are on a quest to repair the Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord.
Shadow of the Erdtree is a full-fledged expansion for Elden Ring added in June 2024. It is a whole new map with new Weapons, Sorceries, Ashes, and Craftables. It is a challenging DLC and as players continue to explore the map, they find surprises and easter eggs left by the developers every day.
