Hogwarts Legacy is bringing to life every aspect of the magical Harry Potter experience and even the plants are not spared! Indeed, the game is filled with many quests that require you to acquire plants, have handy knowledge of their uses, and even combine them in combat or unlock spells!
While playing, you may have come across the term “combat plants” but might not find any direct explanation about the same in the game. So, what exactly are they and how do you acquire them??
There are three Combat Plants in Hogwarts Legacy: Mandrake, Chinese Chomping Cabbages, and Venomous Tentacula. Players can purchase all three plants at Dogweed and Deathcap shop in Hogsmeade for 1800 Galleons in total.
These combat plants are going to be an important part of your gaming experience, so let me clear all your doubts!
What are combat plants’ abilities?
As the name suggests, these plants can be used during combat and can unleash attacks on your opponent. So it’s important to learn what kind of attacks they have so you can make the right moves when necessary!
I. Have a look at their abilities
- Mandrake: Crying sound that can injure or fatally harm an enemy.
- Chinese Chomping Cabbages: Continuously follows the opponent around and attacks them.
- Venomous Tentacula: Shoots venom on nearby enemies.
Where to Find Combat Plants
All three combat plants can be found at Dogweed and Deathcap shop in Hogsmeade.
So if you’re in Hogwarts, you’ll have to exit the school and make your way to Hogsmeade. On the Hogsmeade map, you’ll locate the shop right on the top (north). Once you click on it, you’ll be directed to the shop with a route.
Get to the shop, explore a bit, and then check out the items you can purchase from the shop. You’ll find all three plants on the list. You can either buy seeds or grown plants (depending on your preference). Make sure to keep at least 1800 Galleons handy, as that will be the total price of all three plants.
How to complete Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2 (Quest)?
In order to complete Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2, you will have to acquire and grow Fluxweed and use all three combat plants simultaneously.
Completing this assignment takes two steps. Let’s get into each of them:
I. Fluxweed Seeds
You can purchase Fluxweed seeds from The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade for 350 Galleons. While you’re here, also head to Tomes and Scrolls and purchase a Large Table for 1,000 Galleons.
Why? Fluxweeds can only be grown on large pots that sit on large table. Once you acquire all of this, create a Room of Requirement and plant your Fluxweed. It will take 15 minutes for them to get harvested.
II. Combat Plants
Follow the steps above to find the combat plants and purchase them. Next, you need to use them simultaneously to complete the assignment. Now, “simultaneously” is a just working term here — all you need to do is select each plant consequently (in any order) until you’ve used all three of them.
Once you finish both of these steps, check your Quests and you should find that your assignment has been completed. Congrats!
What is the reward for using all three combat plants simultaneously?
When you complete Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2, you’ll be rewarded with the Flipendo spell. In order to acquire this spell, you need to harvest Fluxweed and use all three combat plants simultaneously.
So yes, acquiring all three combat plants is utterly crucial not just to complete the quest, but to also acquire the Flipendo spell. As you know, this is quite a handy spell during combat as it can physically knock back an opponent or knock/destroy objects.
