1. Red Pikmin
The Red Pikmin are located in the Rescue Command Post. They’re the first type of Pikmin you’ll encounter in the game. The Red Pikmin are warriors, capable of dealing great damage. They’re also immune to the effects of flame.
The Red Pikmin can also be used to traverse certain areas and battling against fiery foes.
2. Yellow Pikmin
The Yellow Pikmin can be found on the Sun-Speckled Terrace stage. Enter the Crackling Cauldron Sublevel cave in the center of the area to find them on the first Sublevel within the cave.
The Yellow Pikmin deal average damage, but they are able to reach high ledges and are resistant to electricity. They’re able to handle bomb rocks as well, unlocking new paths and dealing damage to enemies.
3. Ice Pikmin
The Ice Pikmin can be found inside the caves of the Sun Speckled Terrace. They can be found within the Aquiferous Summit, Last-Frost Cavern, and Hectic Hollows. They’re introduced early on in Pikmin 4 and are a group of elemental Pikmin.
The Ice Pikmin are incredibly helpful in combat and traversal, freezing all enemies that stand in their way as well as helping players cross water bodies by floating on them.
4. Blue Pikmin
The Blue Pikmin can be found on the Sun-Speckled Terrace level, among various other locations. Players are required to unlock the Blue Onion, located between the Hectic Hollows entrance and the Trial Run mission, to get the Blue Pikmin.
The Blue Pikmin possess the ability to swim on water, which is otherwise fatal to other types of Pikmin. This makes them stand out from the other Pikmin types.
5. Purple Pikmin
The earliest players can collect a Purple Pikmin is within the Engulfed Castle cave on the Serene Shores stage. These are the hardest type of Pikmin to find in the game. The Engulfed Castle cave contains a couple of Purple Pikmin.
The Purple Pikmin are the slowest and heaviest of them all and hit the hardest. What they lack in speed, they make up for in resistance and damage.
6. Rock Pikmin
Players need to visit the Kingdom of Beasts cave on the Blossoming Arcadia stage to find the Rock Pikmin. They are located in Frozen Inferno and Plunder Palace caves on the Hero’s Hideaway level as well.
As the name suggests, the Rock Pikmin can destroy obstacles and items unlike the other Pikmin. Similar to the Purple Pikmin, they deal incredible damage as well.
7. Winged Pikmin
Winged Pikmin are a rare type of Pikmin found from the Below-Grade Discotheque cave on the Serene Shores stage. This type of Pikmin can fly, which allows them to traverse through dangerous terrains and even avoid some of the harder enemies in the game.
While being good at traversing, the Winged Pikmin are vulnerable in battle, and don’t deal enough damage. However, they can fly and dodge the incoming attacks from foes.
8. Glow Pikmin
Glow Pikmin can be encountered during nighttime expeditions. Players will encounter them through the story, where they’ll be forced to talk to Yonny to explore at night. This unlocks the Glow Pikmin for players.
The Glow Pikmin can fly, are immune to almost every damage type and can be combined into a large sphere of light when charged. They can only be accessed during nighttime.
9. White Pikmin
The first White Pikmin will be within the Sub Zero Sauna cave on the Serene Shores stage. They can also be found during the Giant’s Hearth stage which is unlocked after completing the game.
The White Pikmin move and attack quick, while also being able to find hidden treasure buried underground.

11. What is the strongest Pikmin type in Pikmin 4?
Purple Pikmin are the strongest of all Pikmin types in Pikmin 4. They are the brutes of the Pikmin ranks and deal incredible damage to enemies. However, they are the slowest and the heaviest of the Pikmin types. They need to be cultivated from Candypop Buds to be produced.
They’re incredibly resistant to damage. However, be careful while using them against enemies who are quick as the Purple Pikmin lack speed and are heavy.

The Blue Pikmin is the weakest type of Pikmin in Pikmin 4. The ability to traverse through water might come in handy for players but Oatchi’s ability to swim and Ice Pikmin’s ability to freeze water renders this type useless.
