Diablo 4 has had a pretty great run so far, with very minor bugs and glitches. However, many players have been reporting a new bug that prevents them from progressing further in the game. It isn’t surprising for an online game to have bugs like this so let’s look into it.
The Holy Chalice bug occurs when players change their World Tiers while completing Sister Octavia’s questline, which causes the Holy Chalice to appear at the gate of Kyovashad even though it’s meant to disappear upon completion of the quests, preventing players from progressing further in the game.
The best way to fix the Holy Chalice bug in Diablo 4 is by completing all of Sister Octavia’s quests on the same World Tier. The questline includes these following quests:
- Malady of the Soul
- Depths of Despair
- Faith In Blood
The above fix has the highest possibility of actually solving the issue, so be sure to give it a try. If that doesn’t work, then there are a few workarounds that you can try. They’ll be listed below. Remember that the fixes might not work, but they’re still worth a shot.
Fix I. Teleport back to the Kyovashad Waypoint
Some players have reported that simply teleporting back to the Kyovashad Waypoint after completing the questline fixes the bug, and the Holy Chalice disappears, no longer preventing players from progressing.
This fix has been making the rounds and is a popular one among Diablo 4 players. But just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it’ll work, as some players have also reported that teleporting back to the waypoint doesn’t fix the bug. If you’re one of those players, proceed to the next fix.
Fix II. Complete other quests around Kyovashad
A player reported in the Blizzard Forums that completing a quest around Kyovashad fixed the bug for them, so look for new quests by the Kyovashad Waypoint, and if you notice any, complete them, and the bug should be fixed.
Even though it’s a possible fix for the bug, it doesn’t seem to have worked for a lot of players, so chances are it won’t work for you, but it’s still worth a shot. Doing side quests will max out your Renown anyway, so it’s not all bad. If this fix isn’t working, then proceed to the next one.
Fix III. Restart your console and relaunch Diablo 4
A lot of the time, restarting a console and relaunching a game fixes any issues that might occur. Simply exit Diablo 4, restart your console, whatever platform you might be playing on, and relaunch Diablo 4.
This is an extremely basic fix for fixing any bug that might occur in a game, so it probably won’t work in this case. But still, it’s definitely worth trying, and who knows? The Holy Chalice might just disappear after restarting the game.
If none of the above fixes work, then I suggest waiting for Blizzard to officially fix the bug themselves. All you can do for now is simply clear out any other tasks that might be pending in the game and hope that Blizzard fixes this frustrating bug. if it has hindered your progress, then I suggest contacting Blizzard Support to let them know of the issue.
