Everything you need to know about Fishing in Once Human- Complete Guide

After all the monster hunting, surviving in the alien-infested world, and maintaining your sanity as a meta-human, it’s finally time to unwind and have some fun. Fishing is the perfect way to relax and gather food for survival.

In Once Human, fishing isn’t bound by the story or time restrictions that most games have. It’s straightforward, and with numerous islands and water bodies, players can fish whenever they please. However, there are some key points to keep in mind to make the most of your fishing experience.

1. How to Catch Fish in Once Human?

Players need a fishing rod and some bait to fish in Once Human. Both items can be obtained through crafting. Once acquired, players should locate a good fishing spot, place the fishing rod in the Hotbar, and equip the bait to begin fishing. 

Fishing rod can be crafted at the Supplies Workbench in exchange for some basic items- 20 woods and 10 copper ingots. It barely takes half a minute to finish the crafting process. 

Fishing Bait can also be crafted at the Supplies Workbench. The basic bait is Dough Fish Bait, which is made with Corn. If you lack corn, go to the Meyer’s Market, south of Deadsville. There, you can find plenty of corn. An alternative option is to purchase baits from Margerie outside Meyer’s Market (5715 -6641).

2. Basics of Fishing in Once Human 

Now that you have a fishing rod and some baits, it’s time to learn the basics of fishing. Follow the steps below for an easy understanding. 

• Find a good fishing hotspot. Red Sands, Chalk Peak, Mayer’s Market, and Broken Delta are good fishing hotspots. 

Note: Mayer’s Market is highly recommended as you can get items related to fishing near the location. 

• Head into your inventory and drag the Fishing Rod into your Hotbar. Now, press R to open the bait menu and click on the bait.

• Hold the LEFT mouse button. You can see a green circle moving on the surface of the water. Adjust it however you like, but cast it close enough to see the fish. 

• Once the middle circle turns blue, hold the LEFT mouse button again to bring in the fish. 

• While holding the left mouse button, pull the mouse in the opposite direction of the fish’s movement to reel it in.

Congratulations, you have caught your first fish.
