Dead Space is back and it’s scarier than ever. The remake is largely faithful to the original 2008 game. Oozing with atmosphere, the remake does an incredible job in keeping the charm of the original Dead Space while adding new changes and secrets.
Among such secrets is the addition of a hilarious Dead Space themed sea shanty audio log, which is a parody of the popular Wellerman Sea Shanty. The lyrics refer to the USG Kellion crew coming to check on the status of the USG Ishimura after the latter sent a distress signal.
How to find the sea shanty in Dead Space Remake?
You can find six fragmented marker codes with waves under them throughout the Ishimura. Once you line them up, you’ll get a secret code “M, S, M, M, S, M, S, M, M, M, M, S.” The M refers to melee and the S refers to stomp.
Head to the Break room located on the Floor 3 of the Bridge area in the USG Ishimura. You’ll be able to get inside the Break room during Chapter 4: Obliteration Imminent where you’ll notice a red circle drawn on the ground surrounded by lanterns, indicating a ritual.
To unlock the sea shanty audio log, you’ll need to stand inside the red circle and perform the following actions: melee, stomp, melee, melee, stomp, melee, stomp, melee, melee, melee, melee, stomp. Once you perform this in the prayer circle, you’ll obtain the sea shanty.
The lyrics make a parody of the Wellerman Sea Shanty, but instead of being about a ship trying find a whale, it is about the crew of USG Ishimura singing about the arrival of the USG Kellion crew.
This fun little easter egg offers a brief moment where the players can take a short break from all the necromorphs and have a lighthearted moment.
About Dead Space Remake
6Dead Space Remake is the next-gen remake of the 2008 sci-fi action horror franchise developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts. The Remake is being handled by EA Motive and is set to feature various upgrades to the visuals, sound, and gameplay.
Dead Space follows the story of Isaac Clarke, an engineer on board an intergalactic mining ship called the USSG Ishimura. On discovering an ancient artifact known as The Marker, the ship is overrun by a species of aliens called Necromorphs. With the aliens turning the crew into one of their own, Isaac must fight through the hordes as he tries to find a way to get back to Earth.
The gameplay is reminiscent of the Resident Evil franchise, with inventory management being a key component. Players have access to a variety of mining tools that become weapons and must navigate the claustrophobic corridors of the Ishimura while fighting off the Necromorphs.
