Running around Los Angeles in Dead Island 2 can be tiring. The game features large open areas for players to explore and slay hundreds of zombies. Thankfully, there is a fast-travel feature in the game for players to move quickly from one location to another.
Fast-travel in Dead Island 2 is unlocked after completing The Red Mist quest in the main campaign. Once the mission is completed, the game will allow players to fast-travel between locations by accessing fast-travel maps present inside safe rooms.
It is worth noting that players can fast-travel travel in the game only through the use of fast-travel maps inside safe rooms. Players cannot fast-travel to locations whenever they feel like it. They’ll have to physically travel to any of the safe rooms and access the fast-travel map.
Players won’t be able to access the fast-travel feature for a good chunk of the game, since it unlocks after completing The Red Mist quest in the main story. However, once they’ve unlocked the feature, travelling from point A to point B will be a lot easier as well as less time consuming.
While the fast-travel feature is not as convenient since players will have to reach the safe rooms before they can fast-travel, it does cut down on the initial time spent on exploring without using fast-travel.
How to get The Red Mist quest in Dead Island 2?
The Red Mist is the fourteenth mission in the main campaign for Dead Island 2. Players need to progress through the campaign in order to trigger this mission.
The mission takes place in Venice Beach, where players will meet the Blue Crab boys. Once this mission is completed, players will get access to fast-travel in the game.
How to complete The Red Mist mission in Dead Island 2?
In The Red Mist, players have to make their way through a zombie-infested sewer to get to the other side of HELL-A and reach Venice Beach. Once they meet the Blue Crab boys, the gate needs to be closed to block off incoming zombies.
The Blue Crab boys will instruct the players to push a button in order to close the gate in the parking attendant booth, but in typical apocalypse fashion, the button won’t work since the gate needs a new circuit breaker.
Here’s how to close the gate during The Red Mist mission:
- Face the closed gate to the northwest
- Climb over the gate and walk to the parking lot.
- Turn left and you’ll see a parking booth.
- Head to the parking booth and you’ll find the circuit breaker just outside of it.
- Take the circuit breaker back to the Blue Crab boys.
Once players insert the circuit breaker, they’ll have to defend themselves against a horde of zombies while the gate takes its sweet time to close. Defeating all the zombies and closing the gate will mark the end of The Red Mist, which means fast travel will be unlocked for players.
