Perfect Asgardian Steel – How to Obtain it, Uses and Tips

In God of War (2018), you can collect hundreds of resources spread across all the realms available to Kratos and Atreus. You can use these resources to upgrade your pommels, talismans, and armor sets, all while generally making your character a whole lot stronger. 

However, of all the materials available to you in the game, the Perfect Asgardian Steel is arguably one of the most difficult ones to grab. It’s an invaluable and rare upgrade material that allows you to max out armors sets like the Valkyrie set and certain pommels and Talismans. 

So, why’s it so hard to obtain? You see, it’s the process of getting the Steel that makes the whole thing so difficult – let me explain. 

In God of War (2018), you can obtain the Perfect Asgardian Steel by defeating the Valkyries in the game. You get one piece of it for defeating a Valkyrie, but it is a rare and random drop, so you may not receive it every time you beat one. 

So yes, to get this absolutely essential resource for Kratos, you need to defeat some of the strongest optional bosses of this game. 

However, it is very much worth it, as the Perfect Asgardian Steel allows you to max out your armor sets (I personally recommend going for the Valkyrie armor set). You can also use them to upgrade your pommels and talismans, provided you’ve still got them after you’ve maxed out the armor. 

Of course, defeating these badass female warriors to get the upgrade material is not an easy task at all. However, I have some general tips to help you face these destructive beasts – let’s go over them. 

1. Be Extremely Patient with The Valkyries

As tempting as it may be to go guns blazing in a Valkyrie fight, understand the fact that these bosses can destroy your health bar with a couple of attacks. 

So, you need to bide your time and look for an opening. Once you see it, unleash all Helheim on them. 

2. Be Careful of The Airborne and Red-Ring Attacks

When it comes to the Valkyries, both the airborne and the red-ring attacks are unblockable – if you’re careless, then these attacks can spell the end for Kratos. 

You need to make use of Atreus shoot arrows or use his summons to break the Valkyries’ agro, stopping their attacks. Study the timings and patterns of the Valkyrie when they’re about to carry out these attacks and act accordingly to come out on top. 

3. Keep Your Shield Up at All Times

Valkyries may have a couple of super-strong unblockable attacks, yes, but their regular attacks are no joke either as they can easily take down large chunks of your health. 

To avoid that, you need to keep your shield up throughout your battles with the Valkyries – couple that with the tip about being patient, and you might be able to defeat a Valkyrie in one go. 

4. Avoid The Valhalla Attack at All Costs 

These Valhalla attacks are devastating, as the Valkyries will grab Kratos, drag him along the ground, stomp on his neck multiple times, and empty his health bar to near-zero. 

Thankfully, you’ll hear the Valkyries scream “Valhalla” before they go in for this attack. So, the moment you hear that, roll away for your dear life. 

5. Keep Locked on At All Times 

Make sure to stay locked on whenever you’re fighting a Valkyrie at all times. However, some Valkyrie fights will make it difficult to do so – in that case, make sure to keep them in your line of sight and avoid their attacks as and when needed.
