God of War 2018, the latest title of the GOW series, takes a more open-world RPG approach to the gameplay, which forces players to backtrack, progress through the storyline, and get certain items to access higher-level rewards.
The “indestructible” blue vines blocking certain paths and concealing several chests in the game is a fine example of this gameplay style, making players wonder, “how in the world can I destroy these blue/black vines?”
How do you destroy the Hel’s Bramble/blue vines in God of War?
Hel’s Bramble/blue vines, blocking the paths and chests, can only be destroyed by using the fire attacks of the weapon called ‘Blades of Chaos’ in God of War 2018.
Hel’s Bramble is a thick black, vine-like thorn plant that is most likely native to Helheim and is incredibly tough to break. Mimir, “the head,” states that Hel’s Bramble is almost entirely indestructible, with its only known weakness being magical fire. This weakness makes the Blade of Chaos the best and only weapon capable of destroying Hel’s Bramble.
How to get the Blades of Chaos in God of War 2018?
Players can acquire the iconic Blades of Chaos by returning to Kratos’ home during the main storyline mission called ‘The Sickness’ in God of War 2018.
You don’t need to complete any side quests or solve puzzles to receive these blades, as they are integral to the storyline. Keep following the main storyline until Atreus is struck by a mysterious disease that makes him severely ill.
Kratos will take Atreus to Freya, who will task him to retrieve the heart of Hel’s guardian and warn him that Leviathan Axe’s attacks won’t work in Helheim.
Kratos will then head back to his home and take out the Blades of Chaos hidden under the wooden floor.
Once the blades are unlocked, they will be available throughout the rest of the game and can be upgraded at Dwarves’ shop. These blades are effective against ice-based enemies and help burn down environmental obstacles in Helheim.
