Once Human has, a lot of interesting characters tucked away, fashioned into ‘Bosses’. What makes them interesting is their attack patterns, which change with each Boss. The Treant is the second major Monolith boss you’ll encounter.
Treant is a Great One Boss you will encounter in your earlier stages, ideally at levels 15-20 (20 is recommended). You can solo it or have two players to perfectly execute the attack strategy. The Treant might seem like a daunting mountain of bark, but that’s all it is. All bark, no bite.
1. How to defeat the Treant in Once Human?
To defeat the Treant in Once Human, follow these steps-
- The Treant is in an invincible state at the beginning; destroying the crimson vines makes it vulnerable again.
- Aim for the red cores of the vines to destroy them.
- The Treant becomes vulnerable to damage for 120 seconds after the vines fall.
- Focus on the crimson part of the Treant to deal double damage (weakness).
- Take cover behind the cliffs and the bus to avoid its orb attack.
- After 2 minutes is up, repeat the same to eventually defeat it.
As unique as it is, the Treant is a Boss in the earlier stages; players are supposed to be getting a hang of the mechanics and the game style. That is the reason the Boss can be soloed relatively easily. The location is in the map above, the Gaia Monolith.
Having a little patience and a steady aim will have you take down the Boss even at level 10 solo (if you’re that hardcore gamer guy). The important thing is to take advantage of the 120 seconds to target the Treant and deal as much damage as possible.
2. How to get the Treant out of its invincibility?
The Treant is invincible from the very beginning of the fight. Take out the three crimson vines around it to make it vulnerable. This state lasts for 120 seconds, after which the vines have to be destroyed again.
As soon as the battle begins, look around, and you can spot three different glowing objects. The objective on your HUD also changes to ‘Destroy the 3 vines’. Do just that. Fly down or run to the nearest glowing vine.
The way to destroy these vines is simple; it is a running theme in this battle as well- ‘Hit the Red’. It is that simple. Hit the crimson-purple glowing core portion of the vines and in just a few seconds, they will go down.
After all three vines are taken down, you will get the opportunity to attack the Boss, Treant. The Treant loses its invincibility for 120 seconds. After which the vines will grow out again.
3. Strategies to Counter the Treant
The important thing in the battle against the Treant is not your level, really. Your level may be at 10 or 12, and you might think it is abysmal damage that you’re dealing to the Boss. But it all counts in the end.
This battle is one of endurance, your endurance. You can repeat the 2 minutes of attack time endlessly by taking down the vines. So, the main thing is to stay alive. Dodging and donkey-rolling the attacks is the way to go.
Overall, the best place to tackle the Treant is the vantage point on the road platform near the bus. As you can see in the image above, it lets you focus on the weakness of the Boss and is also a great place to dodge those annoying orbs.
In essence, all you need to do is- break the vines, get on the platform, and spam (while rolling, of course). That is it; if you have a decent level 15 and above, it’ll take you less than 7-8 minutes to take it down.
