Varre Called You Maidenless? Here is How to Get Revenge on Him – Elden Ring

The Varre questline is one of the most important in the entire game as it not only introduces the new players to the basic features of the game but also tasks them to explore various important locations in the game, and possibly even defeat Mohg, The Lord of Blood. This optional boss is required to be defeated in order to initiate the Shadow of Erdtree DLC.

This questline’s main NPC is Varre, who is also the first NPC you meet as soon as you leave the tutorial area, so it shouldn’t be a hassle for you to start this questline but completing it is a whole different story.

1. How to complete the Varre questline?

To complete Varre’s questline:

1. Meet Varre near the first Site of Grace and exhaust his dialogues.
2. Defeat Godrick the Grafted located in Stormveil Castle.
3. Head to the Rose Church in Liurnia and interact with Varre near the entrance.
4. Select the dialogue option “That didn’t seem right” to continue the quest.
5. Collect Festering Bloody Fingers from Varre.
6. Use the Festering Bloody Fingers to invade either three other players or NPC Magnus the Beast Claw located in Writheblood Ruins in the Altus Plateau region.
7. After the invasion, meet Varre again near the Rose Church.
8. Collect the item “Lord of Blood’s Favour,” a simple white cloth, from him.
9. Head to either the Church of Anticipation or the Church of Inhibition to find a dead maiden’s corpse and soak the cloth in the maiden’s blood.
10. Head back to Varre and collect the “Bloody Finger,” and “Pure Blood Knight Medal” items from him.
11. Use the Pure Blood Knight Medal and teleport to Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum.
12. Explore the area and find/touch the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint site of grace.
13. Find the red invasion sign on the ground near the Dynasty Mausoleum Midpoint site of grace.
14. Invade Varre’s world by interacting with the red invasion sign and Defeat him to complete the questline.

Understandably, there are a lot of steps to follow thoroughly, so I have broken down some of them to ensure you stay on the right path.

2. Defeating Godrick the Grafted in Elden Ring

Considering Godrick the Grafted will be your first god-level enemy, this will be one hell of a fight. This boss fight has two phases, and obviously the second phase is much more difficult.

Godrick has three main attacks in his first phase. A single slash attack, a two-move combo, and a five-move combo. He also starts using fire attacks in his second phase. Moreover, he takes unnatural pauses in between his attacks, so it could be difficult to get used to his attack pattern.

All I can recommend is learn his attack pattern and time your dodges perfectly. You will get ample time between his moves to sneak in and do serious damage.

3. Finding the Rose Church in Elden Ring

Rose Church is situated on a small isle in the marshland south of Raya Lucaria Academy just west of the Fallen Ruins of the Lake site of grace, and southwest of the South Raya Lucaria gate grace site.

After you defeat Godrick, make your way outside the castle. You will see the paths forking into two and a massive marshland in the middle of them.

Make your way through this marshland and you will find the Fallen Ruins of the Lake site of grace just before the Academy of Raya Lucaria. The Rose Church is located just west of this grace site.

4. Using the Festering Bloody Fingers to Invade Players

This part of the quest is rather simple. You just have to use the item “Festering Bloody Fingers” given to you by Varre and invade another real-life player.

Note – You don’t need to win a PvP battle. Just invading another player will allow you to proceed with the quest.

If you are playing offline and do not have a data connection to complete this step, then stress not. Simply, make your way to the Writheblood Ruins in the Altus Plateau region. Find NPC Magnus the Beast Claw here and invade him. This should allow you to go back to Varre and continue the quest.

5. Exploring Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum

Finding the red invasion mark in the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum is rather easy. Just head south from the place where you teleported to and take a right.

You will see a giant staircase leading to a grand entrance. Make your way inside and you will find the red invasion marker right in front of you. Interact with the mark and defeat the White Mask Varre to complete the questline.

6. Varre’s Questline Rewards

After defeating Varre, you can loot a handful of Festering Bloody Fingers and Varré’s Bouquet weapon from him. However, the ultimate reward here is taking out the guy who called you maidenless at the beginning of the game.

7. About Elden Ring

Elden Ring is the next major title to be released by FromSoftware, the developers of Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne and the Dark Souls franchise. Elden Ring is set to release on the February 25th, 2022.

The game is set in a world known as The Lands Between. Players will take control of a Tarnished to explore these lands and uncover the secrets it holds. The game is an open-world style title with emphasis on combat and traversal. There is also a multiplayer component, along players to summon others for co-operative play, or to be invaded for PvP encounters.
