Starfield: Shattered Space features many new adventures for you including the Fallen Footsteps quest. You need to complete the Lost and Found quest to unlock it. Once done, go to the House of Healing to receive the Fallen Footsteps quest from Vassilis Voria. The objective is simple enough– deal with a Vortex Phantom at an Orphanage.
How to complete the Fallen Footsteps quest?
Upon receiving the quest, go to the Orphanage as marked on the map.
Inside the Orphanage, you will find two locked doors in the room.
There should be a data slate titled “Orphanage: Lessons”. Collect it and carefully listen to the entire dialogue as it contains an important clue.
At the end of the dialogue, the children are told to “clear the table”. There are many tables in the room. You only need to pick up one item. Once done, the first door will open automatically.
Head inside the door and use your scan to identify footsteps. It will lead you to another slate called “Orphanage: Chores”. Collect it and go to the other side of the room. There should be a data slate pad. Place your slate here.
Now, look for some shelves next to a fire extinguisher. You will find a Jam Jar at the top of the shelves. It contains the Orphanage Keycard. Take it and use it to unlock the second door.
Enter the second room and you will find another set of locked doors. Head inside the bathroom and open the third stall from the right. Collect the Storage Box Keycard.
Find the Storage Box outside the bathroom and open it. You will find the “Orphanage: Bell” data slate. After listening to its contents, enter the room opposite the locked door containing several beds.
Look for a side table near a drawing of a rainbow. You will find a bell on it. Interact with it to unlock the door.
Go through the door and head upstairs. The Vortex Phantom will be waiting for you here. Interacting with her will be pointless. You need to kill the Vortex Phantom to complete the mission.
At last, return to Vassilis Voria at the House of Healing to conclude the Fallen Footsteps quest. You will receive 1,000 Credits as reward.
