How to Easily Defeat the Hanged Man Boss in The First Descendant? Full Guide

The First Descendant has a lot of playable characters and weapons to use. There are many situations that arise in the game that require you to use different combinations of characters and weapons to defeat the Bosses.

The Hanged Man is one of them. Being one of the annoyingly hard Bosses in First Descendant, The Hanged Man has a very high damage output, along with the mechanics of his setup, that can rage the Boss or insta-kill you.

1. How to defeat The Hanged Man in The First Descendant?

The Hanged Man is an annoying Boss but not unbeatable. Challenging this Boss in the Solo mode can be daunting, and the multiplayer mode allows for more versatility and higher damage.

This will allow you to split the damage received amongst your team and avoid getting one-shotted. Hanged Man is weak to Toxic attacks, so stack up those modifiers for extra damage before entering the fight.

2. Recommended Weapon – Tamer Machine Gun

The Tamer Machine Gun can be found at the Abandoned Reconstruction Site. You must obtain a Rare drop before facing off with the Hanged Man. Add the Toxic damage modifier to this beast of a gun, along with additional damage mods.

Many versions of the Tamer are available, each dealing different elemental damage. But the Hanged Man is weak to Toxic so look for Poison/Toxic damage Tamer. The stats of the Lvl 1 Tamer are as listed below-

Tamer Stats

TypeMachine Gun
DPS303
Ammo Capacity100
Rate of Fire624
Reload Time1.6s

The Hanged Man is weak only to Toxic Damage, so the more of it you have, the better.

3. How To Defeat The Hanged Man

The characters are key when dealing with Bosses such as the Hanged Man. Ajax, Freyna, Viessa, and Bunny are the characters you want in your team if you are F2P. Of these, Freyna is especially useful against this Boss.

This composition divides the tanking and DPS evenly so none of the members get K.Oed instantly. Use a lot of electric resistance (recommended 3100) and stack it to a decent level to guard against the electric orbs the Boss hurls at you.

3.1 Altar Phase

The Altar phase is the main part of the Boss fight that players find difficult. In the Altar phase, there is an altar in the center of the field, with four tubes that fill up slowly over time and form a cube. Grab it before it fills up, or else get ready for a massive AOE that will insta-kill all of your team.

When the cube is stolen, the Hanged Man enters rage mode and hurls electric orbs at you. In this phase, the goal is to create distance between the Boss and you. There is a red beam attack in this phase.

3.2 Charger Phase

The weakness you must aim for is the mouth par, the Charger. Use a Scout Rifle to hit those shots to stack up a lot of hits on the Boss.

After dealing damage to the Boss, the Hanged Man’s damage is reduced. After this happens for the second time, return the cube to the Altar. Pull out the Tamer and start spamming the Boss. This strategy should be repeated until the Boss falls.

There are good rewards from the drop, and the chance to open your Amorphous Materials. The only thing to keep in mind is the timing of the Altar. And protect your teammates, it gets harder if even one falls.
